KU Crime Blotter: Jan. 30-Feb. 5

The following incidents were reported to the University of Kansas Office of Public Safety between Monday, Jan. 30, and Sunday, Feb. 5. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Feb. 4

• Domestic battery occurred between 3 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at Ellsworth Residence Hall. Someone caused physical contact in an angry manner with another student, and also was in possession of a fake ID.

• Criminal damage to property occurred Feb. 3 or Feb. 4 at Bailey Hall. Someone broke a sign off its base. Damage was estimated at $500.

Feb. 2

• Police arrested a man seen apparently preparing to cut bike locks and steal bikes about 5:20 a.m. Feb. 1 at Oswald Hall. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and stolen property and interfered with law enforcement during the incident.

• Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole items between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2 at Lot 104, 1700 block of Engel Road. Loss was valued at $40.

• Someone cut a lock and stole a bicycle Jan. 30 or Jan. 31 at Snow Hall. Loss was valued at $250. Damage was estimated at $50.

• Someone stole a bike tire Feb. 1 from Stephenson Scholarship Hall. Loss was valued at $50.

Feb. 1

• Someone lost a laptop and believes it was stolen Jan. 31 somewhere on campus. Loss was valued at $800.

Jan. 31

• During routine patrol police found someone in possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and a fake driver’s license about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 31 in Lot 104, 1700 block of Engel Road.

• Someone cut a cable lock and stole a bicycle between Jan. 26 and Jan. 31 at GSP Residence Hall. Loss was valued at $700. Damage was estimated at $10.

Jan. 30

• Police saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a car while talking with three men inside about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 30 in Lot 300, 1600 block Stewart Drive. The three admitted it was their marijuana to share.
