KU Crime Blotter: March 20-April 2

Criminals at the University of Kansas mostly took a vacation over Spring Break (March 20-24), so the KU Crime Blotter did, too. This post includes the two crimes reported that week.

The following incidents were reported to the KU Office of Public Safety between Monday, March 20, and Sunday, April 2. Incidents are listed by date reported. This list may not include all crimes reported to police during the date range, as incidents occasionally are posted online longer than two days after being reported.

April 1

• Someone stole a bike and lock from the rack at Corbin Residence Hall between March 17 and March 28. Loss was valued at $225.

• Disorderly conduct and vandalism occurred about 11:50 p.m. March 31 at GSP Residence Hall. A person shouted profanities at bystanders, damaged a door and also was found to have a fake driver’s license. Damage was estimated at $55.

March 31

• Someone damaged exit signs and a fire extinguisher locker March 31 at GSP Residence Hall. Damage was estimated at $1,200.

• Intimidation and stalking occurred March 31 at Jayhawker Towers, Tower A. One person continuously went out of his way to harass another person.

• Someone took a wallet March 30 or March 31 at Ambler Student Recreation Center. Loss was valued at $125.

• Someone was drinking alcohol on public property about 5:15 p.m. March 31 on Mississippi St.

• Someone took a bike and lock March 31 from the rack at Lindley Hall. Loss was valued at $410.

• Someone stole a tablet computer between May and November 2016 at the pharmacy building. Loss was valued at $400.

March 29

• One person struck another person during an argument about 6:15 p.m. March 28 at Chalmers Hall. The two people involved were in a domestic relationship.

March 28

• Someone cut a lock and stole a bicycle between March 24 and March 28 at Haworth Hall. Loss was valued at $219. Damage was estimated at $20.

• Someone entered an unsecured office and took four keys attached to a blue lanyard March 27 at Wagnon Student-Athlete Center. Loss was valued at $100.

March 27

• Someone took a bag of tools March 24 on 19th Street. Loss was valued at $1,500.

• Criminal use of a financial card was reported at McCarthy Hall. Someone used the victim’s KU student ID number to purchase food multiple times without permission between Jan. 13 and Feb. 22. Loss was valued at $255.55.

March 23

• Someone took tools from a locked box in Summerfield Hall between Dec. 25 and March 23. Loss was valued at $1,338.

• Someone injured a rabbit and abandoned it in the 1600 block of Ousdahl Road. (See related story here.)
