KU Crime Blotter: Week of Dec. 12-18

The following incidents were reported to the University of Kansas Office of Public Safety between Monday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 18. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Dec. 18

• Fraud occurred between Dec. 5 and Dec. 18. Someone reported being mailed a worthless check in an amount higher than the item being sold, then was asked to wire remaining funds via MoneyGram.

• A child in need of care was reported about 4:30 a.m. Dec. 18 at McCarthy Hall Apartments. Police determined the juvenile was a runaway and picked the person up.

Dec. 15

• Someone cut a lock and stole a bicycle Dec. 11 at Douthart Scholarship Hall. Loss was valued at $500.

Dec. 14

• Someone took an exit sign Dec. 14 at GSP Residence Hall. Loss was valued at $400, but the sign was recovered. The suspect was arrested.

Dec. 13

• Vandalism occurred about 2 a.m. Dec. 11 at GSP Residence Hall. Someone tore down an exit sign, which caused damage, and took it. The person also was in possession of a fake driver’s license. Damage was estimated at $100. Loss was valued at $400, but the sign was recovered. The person was arrested.

Dec. 12

• Vandalism occurred Dec. 11 or 12 at Jayhawker Towers Apartments. Someone slashed all four tires and broke off both side mirrors of a vehicle. Damage was estimated at $900.

• Someone stole clothes and shoes from inside a room between Nov. 23 and Dec. 12 at Self Residence Hall. Loss was valued at $255.
