First fine arts dean candidate announced

A professor of mass communications is the first person to be announced as a candidate for the position of dean of fine arts at Kansas University.Wade Hobgood, formerly the chancellor at North Carolina School of the Arts and dean of fine arts schools at several universities, will meet the public between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday in Murphy Hall’s Crafton-Preyer Theatre.There are two other finalists for the position, who will be announced March 8 and 11, in advance of appearances on March 10 and 13. They will also hold public events those evenings.Hobgood received his bachelor’s of fine arts degree in 1975 and master’s of fine arts in 1977 from East Carolina University. He also earned a master’s degree in educational management from Harvard University.
