KU enrollment down from spring 2006
Kansas University’s student body shrunk slightly in the past year, while smaller state universities saw their enrollment grow.There are 273 fewer students enrolled on the Kansas University campus in Lawrence this semester compared with spring 2006, a drop of 1.1 percent, according to numbers released today by the Kansas Board of Regents.Overall, there are 25,106 students on the KU campus in Lawrence, compared with 25,379 last spring.Kansas State and Wichita State Universities also reported losing around 1 percent of their students compared with Spring 2006.But enrollment is up more than 8 percent at Fort Hays State University, which has a total of 7,597 students this semester. Both Pittsburg State University (6,422 students) and Emporia State University (6,120 students) reported growth of more than 1 percent.Enrollment at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. is up almost 6 percent from last spring, to a total of 2,769.
