KU takes down UFS ad

The Web site of the Kansas University Athletics Department no longer contains an ad for University Financial Services, a company that is under investigation by the New York Attorney General’s office.According to KU associate athletics director Jim Marchiony, Host Communications, a company that contracts with KU to oversee the university’s media rights, told the university that it wanted to take the link down.”Host told us until this whole issue is resolved, if removing the ad on the Web site can show some desire to cooperate with the New York Attorney General, we’re glad to do it,” Marchiony said. Some universities are under investigation because of alegations they improperly sent students to UFS in exchange for monetary kickbacks and other compensation. KU was not among those universities, but New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo expanded his probe to include athletics departments with relationships with UFS.
