Big ol' fungus

http://worldonline.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com/img/blogs/entry_img/2008/Aug/12/shroom.JPGWalking on the Black Jack Battlefield Sunday, I came across a good-sized shelf fungus (maybe 18" diameter) growing out of a ground-cut stump. I didn't have my guide book, and I can't even identify the mushrooms in the grocery store without the little signs, so I took the photo above and tried to note what I could. As it turns out, I didn't really note much other than the mushroom had firm flesh and pores instead of gills. Leafing through "A Guide to Kansas Mushrooms" at home, I think it is Daedaleopsis confragosa.
