Islamic Terrorism forces Censorship in United States
A Muslim group has threatened South Park creators for insulting Muhammad by casting him in a bear suit.
UPDATE July 21, 2010 - Alleged Terrorist Arrested Reuters: Man behind "South Park" threat arrested. Zachary Adam Chesser has been arrested on charges of providing material support to an extremist group.
I am not a fan of Comedy Central's animated situation comedy South Park; I just do not find it entertaining. In fact, when I have tried to watch it I usually end up changing the channel. The show is vulgar and full of innuendos. However, the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects the content of this show. Moreover, it is not subject to Federal Communication Commission regulations since it is not a network broadcast show. Of course, Comedy Central can choose to censor any material it carries; however, they usually do not.
Never the less, when a radical "Muslim group warns 'South Park' creators of death", Comedy Central did choose to censor an episode of South Park; they have even removed the episode clips from their website. RevolutionMuslim.com threatened Trey Parker and Matt Stone with assassination, showing a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was shot and stabbed to death in 2004 by an Islamic fanatic. The Muslim group made the threat because Parker and Stone had insulted Muhammad by casting him in a bear suit.
Comedy Central has not seen fit to censor the show when it has insulted other religious leaders, political leaders, or protected groups. However, they did react to terrorism. The radical Islamic terrorist simply made a threat and Comedy Central surrendered.

UPDATE: 04/23/2010 The following is taken in whole from this Hollywood Reporter story.
'Muhammad' now a dirty word on 'South Park'
Now "South Park" can't even say the words "Prophet Muhammad."
After last week's episode of the Comedy Central series sparked a threat (and yes, it was certainly a threat) from a radical Islamic website, the network has cracked-down-for-their-own-good on creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone during last night's continuation of the show's storyline.
For those who missed the drama, the show's 200th episode last week mocked the one "celebrity" that the series has been largely unable to depict, the Prophet Muhammad, who was hidden from view in a bear costume. A U.S.-based website RevolutionMuslim.com then warned Parker and Stone they could end up like Theo Van Gogh (the Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by Muslim extremists after depicting Muhammad on his show) and even posted the address of the show's production office. The site has since been shut down.
Last night, "South Park" continued the controversial Muhammad storyline, but with a key difference: every instance of the words "Prophet Muhammad" was bleeped out, making the episode practically incomprehensible, especially to anybody who missed the previous week.
The character of Muhammad was once again also hidden from view, covered by a large block labeled "censored."
A Comedy Central spokesperson confirmed it was the network's decision to bleep the words.
The Muhammad content is also not available on the South Park Studios website.
A message on the site states: "We do not have network approval to stream our original version of the show. We will bring you a version of [episode] 201 as soon as we can."
Ironically, "South Park" apparently shows an image of the Prophet Muhammad briefly in its opening credits that has gone largely unnoticed.
UPDATE: Parker and Stone comment on "South Park" censorship: In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.
This CNN video investigates the South Park episode and Revolution Muslim's threats.

Terrorism wins when they can gain compliance by fiat. The question becomes: Is Comedy Central scared of terrorist threats or supporting Islamic propaganda?

This article is misleading. The top image is what was broadcast last Wednesday, while the bottom image is from an episode from 2006.
Did_I_say_that (DIST) replies…
An update has been added with the complete text of one of many sources. There is nothing misleading about the article. There is simply no picture available of the 201st episode showing the censorship.

An image from what should be the 201st episode has been added.

kwippleton - Did you read the text or just look at the pictures? There is nothing misleading in the text.
Radical Muslims threatened violence against Comedy Central and made death threats against the creators of South Park. Communist Central caved to the threats and censored the image and spoken name of the Prophet Muhammad.
Muhammad is going to be upset with his followers. They caused him to go from a cartoon likeness to being presented as a black box and a stuffed bear that hides in a U-Haul. However, it would have been more prophetic if they had used a Ryder truck.

The Klan claims to be a Christian Movement.
In the last 30 years Christians, in the name of God, have:
Murdered 8 people at abortion clinics
Committed at least 17 more acts of attempted murder
Set off at least 41 bombs
Set over 175 fires to clinics
Set off over 97 bombs
committed over 391 invasions
threw buteric acid at people more than 100 times
offered more than 661 anthrax threats
offended with assault and battery nearly 200 times
threatened people's lives more than 416 times
kidnapped 4 people
stalked 526 other people
burglarized more than 157 clinics
offered at least 650 bomb threats
delivered at least 160 hoax bomb devices
sent more than 15000 hate mails, faxes, emails and phone calls, probably 2-3 times higher, that is just what was reported
Covered up countless child sexual assaults
Supported the Jonestown Masssacre
Supported dozens of mass murders and suicides through groups like David Koresh, Jim Jones, Heaven's gate cult
Americans who self identify as conservative or fundamentalist Christian have a higher rate of domestic violence
The same people also brought us the crusades, the inqusition, the conquest of much of Latin America and we should not forget why all the terrorism goes on in the Irish conflicts...Christians vs. Catholics. How many violent deaths come from that.
Further, there are many confirmed attacks by Christians against Gays and Lebsians, supposed witches, Pagans and others.
As a Christian, I find so many of my fellow Christians provide false witness by blasting the Muslim as a faith of violence by only pointing to the radicals and extremists and then presenting Christianity as a faith of peace by ignoring our extremists and radicals.
They are simply not wise enough to understand the problem is extremism and radicalism, not faith. They have failed God's message and clearly do not understand the Bible.
I hope you will joining me in praying they see the light, those who have faith, and those who do not, I hope you will join me in hoping they develop reason and understanding.

And of course the klan is representative of the vast majority of the rest of us?? I think you have missed the point completely. What is wrong is wrong no matter who does it. You don't get to do wrong because somebody else did wrong. We went after the klan and broke its power. There will always be outliers but they should never be given their way based on threats.

Once again, ivalue shows why she is "the traitor" to America, a label she so judiciously applies to anyone thait opposes ANYthing she posts. Develop reason and understanding? You're not a Christian. You suppose to lecture everyone else about pointing to whom? while only pointing to those that hold the same ideologies you pretend to denounce. If you were a bigger joke you'd make millions on Comedy Central.
Gettin' close, though.

Is it an insult to be mis-labeled a woman? If someone thought you were Caucasian and you weren't, would it be an insult too? Would your views on politics or other topics be any less or more valid depending on what plumbing you have? These comment sections are about a person's view on a topic, not to talk about one's private parts or to make a date. I don't know jaywalker, but I don't think he meant any insult.
Remember too that quite a while back you talked about Church Women United and your friends in that organization. I could see why someone would just assume that perhaps you too were a member of that organization.

I meant no disrespect in regards to gender. Something in what you've posted led me to take that for granted and I guess I was wrong.
Doesn't change the idiocy of what you assert, though.

What did Penn Gillette have to say about the Religion of Peace?
“…Are there any groups you won't go after? We haven't tackled Scientology because Showtime doesn't want us to. Maybe they have deals with individual Scientologists —- I'm not sure. And we haven't tackled Islam because we have families.
Meaning, you won’t attack Islam because you’re afraid it’ll attack back ... Right, and I think the worst thing you can say about a group in a free society is that you’re afraid to talk about it—I can’t think of anything more horrific. [...] …”

You make a great point, snap. The fact is, if Christians were the radicals that some want to portray them as, then shows like South Park and BS would be afraid to ridicule Christians. The only group they fear is Islamic Terrorists - specifically Islamic Terrorists.

50YearResident (anonymous) says…
The problem with Islam is the radicals have instilled fear into the muslim people and they are afraid to speak out aginst the militants because it could have severe repercussions (death or injury) against themselves or their family members. Until that changes things are just going to get worse. Muslims must stand up and speak out for peace.

I have not heard of any strong and repeated denunciation of islamic terrorism (incl. 9/11) from a mainstream muslim organization.
I do not propose the same jar of pi$$ treatment the intelligencia so profoundly cheered be metted out to muslim icons but
there is a clear double standard. It's institutional and enforced here in the good ol' usa, hands off the muslims dude, that's hate/discrimination/illegal and
Christianity/Judaism is fair game for the most tasteless derision but hands off mohammed, that's sacrosanct. Our gov't enables christian bashing and discourages/prevents muslim bashing.
Radical muslim terrorists? To he11 with them! That is the loud and clear message ordinary informed muslims should be sending the world, not a bunch of fatwahs against artists and journalists.
Where does one find the informed muslim voice? Al Jazerra?

Have you actually tried the links that your google search returned? Many are broken and missing. Most are over two years old. If you "hear Muslims denounce extreme Islam every day," you may want to have your hearing checked. What you are hearing is an echo from 9/11/01.

You really do have a reading comprehension problem. My comment clearly states, "Many are broken and missing. Most are over two years old."
Stating that they were over two years old implies that they were not broken.

Radical Islam holds an entire world hostage. No one in the world, not the press, not religious leaders, not the general public are allowed to say anthing negative about Islam without becomeing the subject of death threats. This is Christianity 1000 years ago. Until people become less concerned about the threats and more concerned with the lies being forced down our throats, we'll continue to be dominated by the madmen in this religion.

Hmm, remember the cruxifix in urine? That created some censorship.
Several schools got rid of book like Harry Potter based on Christian censorship
In fact the list of artwork, books, music that have been banned or censored in the name of Christianity is amazing.
And some of those battles have been violent and deadly as well.
But since they were not Muslim, they are not taken as a condemnation of everyone who is a Christian.
It seems like false witness and bigotry to me to have one standard for one faith and another standard for another.
It is no different than having one standard based on skin color, or faith, or nationality.
It is bigotry.
I do not agree with it when Christians do it and I do not agree with it when Muslims do it.
It appears the original poster only finds it wrong when Muslims do it and finds it unimportant when other faiths do it.
