It’s National Missing Children’s Day. Do you know where these Kansas kids are?

Today (May 25) is National Missing Children’s Day, which since 1983 has been observed as a reminder about efforts to reunite missing children with their families, according to a news release from Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s online database includes about 50 children that went missing from Kansas. Many are teens, some are babies. Some went missing decades ago and — if they’re still alive — would now be in their 40s or 50s.

According to the list as of Thursday evening, one of the Kansas children is missing out of Lawrence:

Antwone WhiteAntwone, 15, has been missing from Lawrence since May 1. He is black, with black hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 197 pounds.

The list includes numerous others missing from neighboring counties. Do you know where they are? Contact law enforcement via 911 or call 1-800-KS-CRIME. Information about missing children also can be reported to National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST (843-5678).

In his news release, Schmidt offered tips for parents to keep their children safe. Keep identifying information on children up-to-date in the event a child does become missing, he said. Having an identity kit with the child’s fingerprints, height, weight and a current photo can make it easier to quickly locate a missing child.
