Ninth Street restaurant reportedly burglarized, ‘ransacked’ overnight

A restaurant near downtown Lawrence says it will be closed at least through Tuesday to clean up after being broken into.

“Nothing like a Monday showing up to pried open doors and a ransacked building … not cool and not a good start to the week,” Sully & Hank’s, 602 W. Ninth St., posted on its Facebook page Monday morning. Later in the day, the restaurant added, “We will be closed Tuesday to reprep lost food and finish clean up from today and will reopen Wednesday.”

Police were dispatched about 8:10 a.m. Monday to the restaurant on a report of a burglary that had occurred overnight, said Officer Derrick Smith of the Lawrence Police Department. Smith said police had not yet completed their report and, as such, didn’t have additional details — including suspect information — to share as of Monday afternoon.
