Haskell student accused of assault with a deadly weapon, arrested at one of the university’s dormitories

A Haskell Indian Nations University student was arrested at one of the school’s dormitories after police say he committed assault with a deadly weapon.

Jalen Morris Erving, 19, was arrested at Haskell’s Blalock Hall on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Douglas County Jail’s online booking logs show.

Four officers responded to the scene, which was listed as a disturbance, according to the Lawrence Police Department’s activity logs. The incident was reported to police around 1 p.m.

Lou Hara, the university’s registrar, confirmed Erving is a student at the school.

Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman Kim Murphree said no injuries were reported in the incident. Additional information was not immediately available, however, because the police report is not yet complete, she said.
