Much Ado About Nothin'
Walmart's newest addition to Lawrence sure is nice but I have one problem.....it's too small! The City really blew it caving in to the fringe of Lawrence who most likely rent or possibly own their own homes on the east or Old West side of town.
But what could be done now that all the years and years of lawsuits and lost sales taxes are behind us? I think they should be allowed to expand if there is any room for them too expand. The opposition's argument was really much ado about nothing, seriously.
I have a hunch the SLT when completed will be the same, much ado about nothing. After all, originally it was going to be a 4-lane highway that turned into a Super 2-lane road to nowhere.

Don't worry BP, my guess is, now they will add on in 2 to 5 years. Doubling or more the existing footprint, waiting patiently for personnel changes in city government who will see things their way, The Walmart Way. Lawrence's population will rise to 180,000, while downtown Lawrence will crumble. Eventually the four block area surrounded by 9th, Massachusetts, 7th and Kentucky will be purchased and leveled by the parent company and a new Sam's Club will be scheduled to rise out of the ashes. But it will be too late. Like all great things, this too will come to an end. New, unheard of methods of food, toiletry and household supply transport will develop (think StarTrek, 'computer, coffee, sugar, no cream, 180 degree') and everything we now know will be the way of horse and buggy, Lucy and Desi, Adam and Eve. Great in their time but unnecessary now. All part of the process, but if in the way will get kicked to the ditch and forgotten

Computer!................

Roe, come on now! I doubt it. Those little cutesy shops downtown will be around for some time.
The new Star Trek movie is so good! I mean it is easy to accept these people as younger Kirk, Spock, etc.
After all this time we finally find out how Kirk solved the Unsolvable Marachushi Muri, or whatever it was called. program.
I love that scene in the movie, he is definitely channeling the spirit of Kirk.
Do you believe in ghosts?

Irish, Don't believe in ghosts, but if I told you what I do believe I would have every wacko from here to the moon coming after me!

Haven't seen the new ST, another item for my 'bucket list'....
