Muslim Religious Leader Declares Obama “The Messiah”
"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking." -Louis Farrakhan

BP,
According to Wikipedia as well some exposure I've had to the Quran, Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah and that he will come to defeat the Antichrist in end times. So, you nutjobs really have to decide, is Obama the Messiah or the Antichrist? I guess you're just talking out of both sides of your mouth, unless you think that Jesus and the Antichrist are one in the same. Surely not, that sounds down right blasephemous.
I am an Obama supporter, but don't think he's the Messiah or the Antichrist. I think he is a better choice than McCain for many concrete reasons, including his middle class tax cut proposal and his plan to get us out of Iraq and go after the real terrorists who actually perpetrated 9/11. I know it's the Republicans who are suppose to portray Obama as too risky, but I sure don't want Mr. Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran to take that 3:00 am phone call. He's pretty cranky during the day, I can imagine how irrational and ddiscombogulated he'd be if woken from a deep sleep. Watch the video in the second link to see what fellow Republicans and others are saying about his rage.

I've been under the impression that Muslims consider Jesus to be a phophet but that he will return at the end of the world and that he sits at the right hand of God. Let me know if that is not correct. I'm sure the Quran is open to many interpretations as is the Bible and Torah.

TopJayhawk,
The “Hidden Imam” is a Shia belief. As Alia said, in Islamic belief, Jesus is a prophet, and Muslims believe that he will return at the end of the world. Muhammed, who was a human being, will not.
BP,
Calling Louis Farrakhan a “Muslim religious leader” is like calling Fred Phelps a Christian religious leader. He no more represents the Christian faith than Louis Farrakhan represents the Islamic faith. In fact, I would be surprised if many non-American Muslims even know who he is, let alone consider him a religious leader.
It is an interesting discussion though, because it seems like a strange statement for Farrakhan to make. I haven't watched the YouTube video, but is it because he believes Obama to be Jesus (the Messiah), since Obama is a Christian and Muslims believe that Jesus will come back on the Day of Judgement? Just a thought…

“….his plan to get us out of Iraq and go after the real terrorists…”
Here's the problem with that plan, Alia. Regardless of whether you think it was right of us to go into Iraq, we now have to stay. Barack himself gave the reason why: Iraq has a 79 billion dollar surplus. Some time ago we helped the Afghans purge the Russians from their country. We then left Afghanistan in a cloud of dust. We did not help them rebuild. We did not have a continued presence to solidify the infrastructure, which allowed a terrorist group now known as the Taliban to take over the country. If we leave Iraq now, I believe the same fate awaits them. Afghanistan was a very poor country. Iraq has a surplus. So my question to you Alia (and Barack) is: How many suitcase nukes does 79 billion dollars buy?
Also, I believe that politicians and most Americans have this wrong. Killing Osama and top ranking terrorists wont win this war. In fact I could make a pretty strong case that killing Bin Laden would only strengthen Al Quaeda. To win the “War on Terrorism” we must win hearts and minds.

Whew, that's a bit of a McCain-like rant.
Don't you think McCain would have already ripped Obama a “new one” if:
a) he had some real dirt to disclose
b) he had some substantive policies of his own to discuss
c) he had the intellectual acumen to pull it off
No matter the outcome, rest assured Fox will characterize it as McCain-Palin's 4th debate victory.

As much as I am growing to dislike McCain (as a candidate) , I could not help but be impressed by his bravery and integrity when he was imprisoned. He declined an early release that N Vietnam offered. McCain held true and declined because he believed that prisoners held longer should be released first. WOW. After that he endured more.

Just because this alleged Muslim religious leader (I didn't investigate beyond Prune's post) calls Obama the 'Messiah,' does not mean that Obama would accept such a role.
I know what Prune's intentions were with this post, but I'm really failing to see any causal correlation between Obama and this leader. The only President I'm aware of who has acted as if he were being guided by divine intervention is George W. Bush, who Obama is consistently deriding.
I guess I just don't understand, Prune. I'm afraid that your intentions have found a faulty handhold on the edge of the cliff into which the US conservative base is currently slipping. Sorry for the bad news.

Is the guy a “leader” or not?

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan
jerusalem Sen. Barack Obama employed and continues to employ senior staffers who belong to the Nation of Islam, and the presidential candidate has some “worrying” ties to the controversial group headed by Louis Farrakhan, a former key Obama insider told WND.
The former insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed particular concern that Obama employed at least two Nation members in his early days as a state senator, when his office was staffed by only a handful of workers.”

You should probably get over this Islam thing. He's not Islamic, he's not a one man sleeper cell, he's not trying to bring down his country. He's a black man that loves his country and wants to make it better.
You're certainly not doing your party any favors when you run around like a redneck full of hate and fear. The American people want none of it and, increasingly, niether does your party.

From www.politico.com:
10/10/2008
Fearing the raw and at times angry emotions of his supporters may damage his campaign, John McCain on Friday urged them to tone down their increasingly personal denunciations of Barack Obama, including one woman who said she had heard that the Democrat was “an Arab.”
Each time he tried to cool the crowd, he was rewarded with a round of boos.
“I have to tell you. Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don't have to be scared of as president of the United States,” McCain told a supporter at a town hall meeting in Minnesota who said he was “scared” of the prospect of an Obama presidency and of who the Democrat would appoint to the Supreme Court.
“Come on, John!” one audience member yelled out as the Republicans crowd expressed their dismay at their nominee. Others yelled “liar,” and “terrorist,” referring to Barack Obama.
McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, “I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not he's not uh-he's an Arab. He's not-” before McCain retook the microphone and replied:
“No, ma'am,” the Arizona senator assured. “He's a decent family man [and] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab].”

Watch out, everybody. Marion Lynn's preparing the armed insurrection. In addition to even more stupid blog posts, he's contemplating folding his arms, sticking out his lower lip, and holding his breath until he turns blue (not blue as in “blue states” of course) if Barry Saddam Hussein Obama bin Biden wins.

Logicsound04 @10:08 has a good round-up of the increasing idiocy produced by Barak's surging poll numbers and McCain's campaigning failures. The name calling of Marxist and socialist is hilarious given the move toward federal intervention into the market in the last few weeks. Bush this weekend is considering taking federal ownership of private banks and Obama is the scary Marxist?
Anyway, here are Marion's recent action items:
“Barack Hussein Obama is a supporter of terrorism and Marxism who threatens the very core of the American way of life… Anyone who votes for the terrorist advocate Barack Hussein Obama is, in fact, a supporter of mass murder and terrorism… . Should the loonies of this nation elect the Obamination I will join the resistance… . You ain't never seen “white backlash” like you are going to see from this.”
I know how we treat terrorists and mass murderers in this country. I know they don't deserve to live. So, I want to know what I should do as part of the resistance, as part of the “white backlash.” I mean, sure, I can vote and write my representatives and everything, but these are terrorists and terrorist supporters we're talking about. McCain said yesterday, in response to a woman who called Obama an Arab, “No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with.” Clearly McCain is not leading the resistance effectively who will? What will they do?

Do you suppose the FBI is aware of these threats? It sounds like he wants to overthrow the government and lead an armed rebellion. And he has the nerve to call others terrorists. Amazing. When it looks like the election isn't going his way, he's ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Good grief. Scary!

Great point, Alia-one that I've been reflecting on myself after reading Marion's posts.
I know Federal prosecutors and can certainly locate the phone number of the FBI regional office in KC.
If I continue seeing this kind of garbage from Marion or anyone else, I won't have any problem referring this to the appropriate parties.
Let them make the determination regarding the propriety of such statements…

Alia — It's getting scary and I think McCain's recent efforts (weak as they are) to calm down the mob suggests that the Republican leadership is concerned that McCain/Palin rallies are looking too much like Munich beer halls in the 1930s. Now, McCain is getting booed when he makes even the slightest defense of Obama:
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/…
Your baby/bathwater comment is spot on. the McCain camp knows that they're going to lose so they're trying one last desperate attempt to paint Obama as a secret Muslim terrorist. They don't care that they're poisoning our political culture. They don't care that they're acting un-American by inciting violence against their own citizens. They just want money and raw power — that's all they ever have wanted.

b_d,
I was just thinking that the FBI must have a large contigency of staff who probably just review blogs and comments on the internet to try to identify potential problems and extremists. The great thing about our country is people can hold very different views and be protected by free speech, but when does it go over the line to threatening or inciting violence? I think both conservatives and liberals are raising some pretty legitimate questions about when campaigning crosses the line. I really hope no one is serious about the threats they are making at campaign rallies or on the internet. We can all get pretty worked about these issues, but probably 99.9% of us believe in our country's system of selecting leaders and would not take matters in to their own hands.
