Community Cost/Benefit Analysis Suggestion

Since Lawrence has had study after study done for this, that, and the other thing, I have a suggestion:Why not do a Cost/Benefit Analysis performed in regards to the University of Kansas and its impact on the community as a whole? Of course to remain impartial and unbiased, the people doing the study could not be the Policy Research Institute at KU or be associated with the university in any way.I am curious as to what kind of impact, positive and negative, the University has on our city. It doesn't take rocket science that the fast food eateries and bars benefit tremendously from the students, but what other businesses reap the benefits when compared to the permanent residents? Also, what costs, if any, from property taxes and sales taxes do the permanent residents have to pickup in order to provide services for the students? This could be a study I could support, especially since KU does not have to pay any property taxes and the students single handedly passed the T bus free ride sales tax. I wonder how much these non-permanent residents and the university spend and how much do they contribute in relation to the expenses paid for fire, medical, police, transit, streets, street maintenance, schools, water, sewer, and gas ?
