It felt so good to vote no on Judge Paula Martin today
Advertisement
Today, thanks to our representative democracy, I had the distinct pleasure of voting no on continuence of Judge Paula Martin. This judge has frequently given sentences far too easy to offenders in our community, including to rapists.
emphasized text My suspicion is that others feel the same way.
I sincerely hope the majority voted with me.
thanks for reading.

she was right on the ballot right after Mike Malone, what a contrast! now that's a fine man and a good judge.

I see no listing in the online edition where the voting for judges' retention is given.
after Martin's behavior, I'd assume her vote would be controversial.

It felt good to vote FOR Judges Martin and Malone. Both are outstanding jurists!

I voted to retain Martin and Malone but voted against Huff.

I am surprised that so many voted to retain Martin. in the past few years she's had severa cases ...
and weak sentences do not make a good jurist. one particular case, Martin gave probation to a couple of young men who committed rape against a young lady.
just not right.

And, I'm certain that you listened to all of the evidence presented in this case and was privy to the sentencing report so you can replace the judge's judgment for your own.

Good for you for knowing anything about the justices. Most voters don't and just give a yes vote. Sorry you weren't successful. Being soft on violent crime is not good for society.

Thanks Bea, however, your attitude is not consistent with your crazed bleeding heart liberal persona ... lol.
no, short sentences help no one. compassion from judges is important, and necessary. but they must attend to public safety and must also enact the just punishment for victims, and by extension, for us all, so that all of us are properly represented in the process. also, so that the system does what it should, not only toward preventing crime but to weigh the weight of loss and hurt and other result of crime in the balance.

Most personas are largely fabrications, woven out of preconceptions and assumptions.
I've lost track of the times in this place that it's been assumed that I believe a certain thing, because I happen to believe something else that is assumed to be correlated with a whole schema of other beliefs.
Most people, I think, are more complicated than that. But that could, of course, be a fabrication woven our of my preconceptions and assumptions. I certainly Want it to be true.
