Now I will tell you...sometimes we got to do we we got to do. I gots a cousin in Oklahoma that will stick his arm up some hole....I do better with the other.

I gots a neighbor with a big ole pond stocked with channel cat. Twice a day he goes down to his dock, taps the corner pipe of the dock with a piece of rebar and then tosses a couple of hands full of fish food into the water. Ima tellin' you, the water looks like it's boiling from the channel cat surging in to feed. Now he likes eatin' fish bout 4 or 5 times a week so every now and then he forgets to take the food, but when he taps that pipe he'll dipnet a few nice fat channels out for supper. He'd make a good cuzin.

Oh, I gots one of those friends but them big, fat pellet-fed channels do not compare, eating-wise, to a river-run channel of about 1 lb. Some catfish are even raised in cages and are not even free to swim about. River-run channel cats are are constantly swimming in the current, preying on crawdads, chubs and other natural food. So, their meat is firmer, whiter and better eating. A wild fish from running water is always better noshing. And do NOT ever batter fish for frying. Batter just makes for greasy.

Thanks for this diversion, autie. I'm just sittin' here sweating like a one-armed paper hanger, watching the latest line of thunderstorms die just to our west. Again. There is one word that says it all and that one word is droughtsummer.

Brings back memories. dynamite not that effective if the water is deep, same with grenades.
