Where is Mr. Deeds?
If I may, I shall rant for a short bit. Why does the federal government not have the sense to budget up to keep the essential services of the government? Or better put, why do those whiny ass Republican legislators gum up the works just to make some ignorant mundane point? It reminds me a bit of the social feuding my granddaughter does with her friends. She is a fifth grader. Is Congress smarter than a fifth grader? And this is not about liberal/conservative cry baby differences. This is about getting to work and doing something positive and right. If you pull partisan politics at this point, you should shut the hell up and go cut firewood for a living.
The federal budget proposes cutting the legs out from under the Workforce Investment Act and Wagner Peyser. In time of layoffs and depressed economy is eliminating all the displaced worker retraining funds a good idea? That's like shooting all the chickens because a fox was in the yard last night. I just wish that all 500 and some whatever it is members of Congress, for one or two days, could go in and be Mr. Deeds. Just go do the right thing based on common human decency and tell all the people they are beholding to to kiss their ass. That is the only way to move forward. WIA is only one example. Sam has his issues too that are going to hurt all of us. So where are you with this? You know, if you keep pushing a mass of people, pretty soon they will push back.

So, just to be clear, where did you stand on the Democrats in the Wisconsin state legislature running and hiding?

Glad to hear you say that. I don't always agree with you, but I can certainly respect someone that is consistent in their principles.

Good piece Autie. It's past time for Congress to buck up, quit pouting and playing silly games against each other, and pull together to get this country back on track.

In order to "do the right thing" one must be able to identify and comprehend what is "right".
It also helps if one is acting in the interest of the Nation and not one's self-interest, but purity of motive is insufficient, absent the ability to understand the long-term impact of the action taken.
Free Advice: Look to the Founders. They set up a system that will work well if we let it.
