Alternative to the OTS

I had this cat one time that used to like to get up on the stove anytime I was frying some sausage links. I always really liked links. But apparently Spotty the kitten had a fondness for them too. That stupid cat would actually flip them out of the hot sizzling skillet onto the floor. Well good lord it didn't take long for the dachshund to figure out the comensalist relationship and became buddies with the cat. And I never learned to not leave the stove unattended. So, to save on food and keep the dog's cholestrol from becoming to high, I had to switch to patties. The dumb cat never could master the "patty flip". Which made us all happy. Except for the dog. The cat didn't have a seared paw anymore either.

So, are you a link person or a patty person? Sometimes there is a reason for the way things are being the way they are....nothin like a perfect sausage patty to go with that buttery toasted biscuit...eh?

Maple links. Yessir. I could eat those frozen, right out of the box if I had to. Just gnaw off a bite.

I like links the best. They are the best with pancakes.

Thank goodness it is election day, and tomorrow it will be over( probably for the next 4 years in Kansas).

And...THANK GOD, TODAY STARTS BASKETBALL!!!!!!! something to relieve my mind from the stress of the state of the nation and life in general.

GOOD LUCK TO THE JAYHAWKS.

option #3. Crumbled, then made into a rich creamy white gravy. All while baking made from scratch, just like grammaw used to make 'em, buttermilk biscuits. Thick sliced bacon, eggs over easy and hot black coffee. I don't care if I eat anything the rest of the day after a breakfast like that . . .

~~burpppp~~

Maple links are the preference. This got me to thinking of bacon wrapped chicken livers off a very hot grill. Wash down with Pacifico or Ad Astra.

For some, Biscuits and Gravy do the trick.

Do not eat the hidden sausage. Well that's what the cat said later. Sometimes when she kicked a link out of the skillet, it would bounce under the stove. So the dog could smell it, but couldn't reach it. The cat would snag that one later with a claw.

Just a reminder, cornbread that contains sugar is an abomination. You can put whatever you want on it after it is baked.

Patty with corn bread on the side, lots of butter and enough maple syrup to run off 'the cornbread and drown the sausage. Honey will do as well! Who needs fruits, veggies or eggs? If you've got cornbread and sausage patties, you're content.

Patties for breakfast, links other times. Buffets with bacon wrapped Little Smokies , Bangers and Mashers, or Verenike with sausage at Carolyn's Essenhaus are to die for. Those ladies do a mean Biscuit and Gravy too.

Is Pyle's in Eudora gone?

Oldham's patty sausage. Add a few drops of liquid smoke.

Cracker Barrel uses Oldham's with a special blend of smoke and seasoning mixed into them.

Patties for me. My hometown meat department has a breakfast sausage that I would willingly drive 6 hours to get. There's NOTHING better than sausage patties from Fareway, fried in a cast iron skillet with a dollop of homemade grape jelly melted over......

Oldham's sausage out of Holton is the best around here that is commercial. Winchester Meats is worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood.

I'm going with patty. I grew up eating Neuhoff's. Jimmy Dean is a reasonable alternative.

Most any form of pig works for me. Bacon, ham, sausage....with eggs, pancakes, biscuits...matters little...excuse me now. I'm going for brunch.
