The Second Coming
I recently noted some history in my mind. I recalled the time Napoleon was committed for a time to the island of Elba. But later after much civil unrest, certain loyalist banded together and facilitated his triumph return. Of course that didn't last long either, ending in total defeat.
Not too unlike some recent exiles. Obviously the unspoken is not Napoleon by any means but it might appear he had a following. So the question looms, should the exiled ever be allowed to return to their homeland after a certain period of purgatory? I think it should be voted on by the viewers myself. Being an easy going sort I would lean toward allowing the exiled another chance. What say you? Is forever really forever or should we never say never?

Do you all really want him back? Considering how you all were dancing on his grave so to speak. That is unless you're itching for another dance and would like to see a resurrection and subsequent death to have another party.
Personally I don't care. He was annoying, but I had learned to tune him out. Though on the other hand, if he does come back it might be fun watching all the hens start cackling when they find the fox ( or other canid if you will) in the hen house.

So denak, you can't discern where anonymous posters "stand"? Are anonymous posters less willing to defend their views?
Not in my internet experience-in fact, just the opposite. I believe (at least in most cases)anonymous posters are more likely to state their opinions and defend them than someone who is accountable via their identity disclosure.
Perhaps I just don't get where you stand given your anonymity and all ;-)

Autie ruminates, "Obviously the unspoken is not Napoleon by any means but it might appear he had a following. So the question looms, should the exiled ever be allowed to return to their homeland after a certain period of purgatory?"
Well, I know a lot of others will disagree, but I think he should get another chance. After sufficient apologies, therapy, public shows of humility, and other displays that convince us that the swagger has been knocked out of him, I think we should applaud Tiger's return to the golf circuit. After all, he's still young enough to turn his life around.
Now, I might feel different if he were, say, a grizzled codger who had demonstrated, time and again, that he was nuttier than Chinese chicken salad, not to mention bigoted, sexist, opinionated, and was making no effort to change. But that is not the case, so we should try to be cautiously optimistic that he can turn his life around and once again deserve our admiration.
What?.....
autie (anonymous) says…
I must say Py, well put. well put. I can see that like the Phoenix rising from the ashes that Tiger may be able to rise up and overcome adversity. But that other phoenix...I don't know. That is like the time I saw a flock of ducks take of a pond real low like and one of them flew right into a hog wire fence at the end of the dam and ended up ringing it's own neck....funny how sometimes things like that happen. The poor old duck (or goose) turned out to be his own worst enemy.

I wasn't talking about anonymity and whether or not an individual is more likely to defend his or her views because of their anonymity or lack thereof.
Simply that with Bozo and Marion, you always knew where they stood on a subject even if you disagreed with them. The same with Irish. You may not have liked what she had to say it but at least she had the back bone to defend it.
Oh and just who are you again????? Your not exactly into full disclosure either. :)

P.S. Oh and for the record, brujablanco, I don't think all strippers are morally reprehensible. I think prostitution is morally reprehensible and there is ample evidence that strip joints facilitate the trafficking of men, women and children in our society. If that is ok with you, so be it. That's on you.

My sled team just read this and now *they* want a machine also, Snap. They are on the back computer googling "collective bargaining" too. HDTV with Animal Planet will be just the start. Things are outta control. How do you handle the lemurs?

When the lemurs see me fill an old sock full of sand, they realize they'd better shape up or somebody will get stunned & wake up trussed inside a pillowcase.

Sled team? Why didn't I think of that, just spent a half an hour getting all the ice off my car. I was actually surprised how easily it came off. Knew it would be hell in the morning at 7 though.

Snap, good idea. But didn't I read the high-class preferred method was a cue-ball inside a Crown Royal bag? I mean I may need to save my sand for the road. You know, to get out and get me a Crown Royal bag.
LadyJ: I'm about to do the same thing, but I am going to arm myself with a couple of gallons of hot water. I just cant tell how much ice is in that stuff.

Doing some web surfing and ran across The Swamp Fox. Did anyone every call Marion that? I remember the tv show but vaguely. Maybe it wasn't on very long. Does anyone remember it? I certainly don't remember any reruns. Now I do remember the Wild, wild west, but I think that was later. Ah such fond memories. Multi should start a blog about the old tv shows we remember from our childhood.

Leslie Neilsen play Francis Marion in 8 episodes of the old Disney series between 1959 & 1961.
IIRC, He who must not be named used some version of that as one of his web user ids.

Well Irish,
I am pretty sure of it. and Mariposa's behavior seems to confirm it is you.
So, when you were calling yourself Hermione Edwards, did the real Hermione Edwards with her website and commercial presence come after you?

Can I vote again? like this is Chicago?

Gnome, Mariposa is a friend of my granddaughters. They are both getting their masters in economics at KU. She has decided against living in Lawrence and will be returning to London. My granddaughter is thinking seriously about looking for a job in London after she gets her degree.
I have not got a clue who Hermione Edwards is.
Didn't there used to be a character actress called Hermione Ginggold, somethink like that?
hermione Hotspot Ecosystem Research and Man's Impact on European Seas , could that be what you meant? Sorry, not responsible for that either.

Hermione Gingold won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1958 movie Gigi in which she played Madame Alvarez, Gigi's loving grandmother. She sang "I Remember it Well" with Maurice Chevalier. In Chevalier's biography by Michael Freedland she said "It was my first American film and I was very nervous." But Chevalier put her at ease. "I had to sing and I hadn't got a great voice, but with him I felt the greatest prima donna in the world." Gingold soon followed this with another hit film Bell, Book and Candle (also 1958). (Wikipedia)
This is who I was thinking about. Wonderful actress. Thanks Gnome for the prompt.

well,
riding in like a real Valkyrie, thanks for the assist!
it was indeed Hermione Elliot that was Irish/mariposa/cleopatra's other incarnation!
and the friend of a cuzin of daughter's boyfriend: not buying it! "beasts" right out of Irish, plus if a friend of Irish's kin and kith, yet Irish acted like she didn't know what I meant by the "beasts" post ref!

This is very interesting stuff used for such a variety of things from agriculture to explosives.
It is also a preservative used in labs. I just put this in, in case someone did not click on the link.

The name on my birth certificate is Leslie Jeanne Swearingen. My nickname is Irish because my maternal grandmother immigrated to this country from Ireland,
and because I always loved that movie with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in which he calls her Irish.
I did have Cleopatra on the Kaw because at the time it seemed like a cool name. Then I got bored with it.
I was born at Fort Riley, Kansas because my father was in the army and stationed there.

Stat_Guys Really I don't care if you count every post or not. I used Hermione Elliot because of the Harry Potter books and Elliot was my grandmothers maiden
name.
Looking back now I wish I had just put up Irish in the first place as that is what everyone calls me.
Enough all ready. I am crazy and stupid and I know I am. Okay, are we all happy now. And, I do mean this.I wish someone from the paper would tell me under
what circumstances I can still make comments.
