Can't take credit for the Norwegian bachelor farmer reference. That is Garrison Keillor's fault. There is more to that conversation, but I thought I better stop there, or the eww factor would have been greater, lol. Just the snarky exchange between the two men at the diner.

I met Bob Wills at a fair in Noel, Missouri when I was five. I have never forgotten it. He shook my hand and told me I was a pretty little girl. How bout that?

It just struck me when I watched that video, that although Charlie was always pretty good with that song, he has gotten even better. the exchanges with the other instruments was very entertaining. Thus not getting older just getting better. And I'm with you Roe on the Bob Wills. That is good stuff too. And the gettin up early and going to bed early. My bio clock tends to follow the sun..When it gets dark it must be bedtime. Then that Robin outside my window gets me up just before daylight..which is kinda damn early right now.

I've been unable to sleep late since early childhood. I'm only two years behind you, and have always felt like half the day was wasted if the sun was up ahead of me. Used to make a pot of coffee in the morning just so my parents would smell it and get up. On the other hand, I'm getting so I appreciate a little nap in the afternoon and am usually asleep by 10:30. Haven't done as much reading lately, but 'Atlas Shrugged' keeps calling from across the room. Also picked up 'Odd Thomas' Dean Koontz last week so I'm behind two. Interesting you were born in Ks. then raised in Mo. I was born in Mo. then parents moved to Ks., as I'm fond of saying,"before any permanent damage was done". I'm sure there are posters who would argue that point. Seems the more we know about each other the more we have in common. Probably why we lock horns occasionally (but not too bad, I hope)

eewwwwww! pretty much sums it up. :-) Just why do you get up so early? Not because of age, no, because I am 63 and get up at 10. Then I read until late at night. I am now reading "The Yellow Admiral" and Patrick O'Brians bio. Did Charlie Daniels wear his hat pulled way down because of major stage fright. He was, and is, a dandy. To be able to make music like that, whoa!

Although I have been caught doing the nose thing.........

And not so much a diner stool as a bar stool....

But that was a loooong time ago, and of course would never happen now.....................

much...........

I think of you all more as Norwegian bachelor farmers wearing overalls, the one finger nose blows, sitting on diner stools lifting off one cheek to let out a whistle before lunch and not caring who hears.

By the way, I took fiddle (they called it something screwy, like violin?) lessons in grade school. Couldn't carry a tune in a sack. Heck, I have trouble playin' the radio! Thinking if I retire again (third time's the charm they say) I might give it another try

Although this (less the phallic symbolism) is more my style. (Why go out with a whimper if you can go out with a bang!)

OLD! Why, I'll dance on your grave!

;-)

Think of myself as more Slim Pickens (w/o bibs) than George C Scott type........

And how old do I have to get to feel like a grownup?
