Sarah Palin: It's Your Birthday! What Your Gift Would Be

It would have slid right by me if a certain online persona hadn't made mention of it in my blog about chili. And to think I'm having tea with her at an upcoming party!

Sarah was born February 11th of 1964. I believe that makes her 46 as of today's birthday. Wonder how she's spending her special day?

So here's the blog topic. If you could give Sarah something for her birthday, what would it be?

I think I'd give her some peace of mind with that intended son in law that didn't happen. The guy who is telling all, and showing more than he has, as he rakes in the big bucks. What's his name? Levi?

Be kind, be polite. What would you give Sarah Palin for her birthday if you could give her anything you wanted?

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

"If I only had a brain" comes to mind since we're living in Kansas!

supertrampofkansas 6 years ago

I thought you wanted to be nice and polite!?

Or were you referring to yourself?

Yep I would give Sarah a brain for her birthday.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Ha! You caught me there, supertramp! I asked my brother one time if I needed a kidney if he'd give me one. His response? "I'd give you a brain if I could!"

And any particular brain you'd give her? A Frankenstein's brain from someone from our historical past? lol

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Speech lessons anyone? Repeat after me. The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. It's worked before!

how about 90-day free trial to the hooked on phonics?

Okay, a little Sarah hostility coming out from the cuzin side of the family. At least give her a new shotgun or rifle. She does have that positive trait of liking to hunt? Right?

MrNo, you are a cruel person!

(And I don't understand the necklace.....)

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

"Kentucky shades" I've been trapped at the computer much too long.

A new poll,or pole, whichever is appropriate.

My VOTE!!! She's HOT!!!!

(nah, just kidding)

(about the vote....)

remember_username 6 years ago

What could one possibly give a person who thinks she has everything?

RoeDapple 6 years ago

A klondike bar?

Or a football?

Nah, nobody likes football, nobody.....

mom_of_three 6 years ago

Okay, I couldn't resist, Ronda, and I mean this in the nicest possible way....

For her birthday, I would give her a CLUE, cause it's something she has shown she needs from time to time.

mom_of_three 6 years ago

and it could go along with the bag that someone else is giving her.

RoeDapple 6 years ago

A big bear (or is it bare???) hug!

My "seal" of approval?

(you know she's HOT!)

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

I love the idea of giving her a 'clue', but that may mean you'd have to stick by her side and continue to nudge her to remind her. You didn't offend me, mom. You're so thoughtful.

Some good ones, Roe....(time to wax your seal)

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

How about a series of different colored sticky notes and fine ink pens so she doesn't have to write on her hands.

Or, beautiful lacy white gloves to keep her secrets hidden from the press until she's ready to peel back to reveal.

Babboy, you don't know that. She might go wild buying gifts for you.

Boston_Corbett 6 years ago

Hmmmm. Ronda is changing tunes on Sarah? How did that happen?

Ronda's very first post is what popped into my mind, even before reading it.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Guess great minds think alike when you're from western Kansas. Not changing tunes about Sarah. We are having a tea party together after all. Do you think Sarah would actually come to my house if I invited her to Larryville? I'll have to make sure none of you know about it. My house would be filled with the worse possible gifts. Really you guys!

agno, interesting thought!

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

I've heard a rumor that Hillary Clinton has several pantsuits she'd love to have Sarah model...........for her next run in the Presidential race. Can't you picture Hillary and Sarah together chatting it up in the woman's restroom before their debate! Doing each other's hair.....sharing makeup secrets......

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Tom, share a little about that evening. That special date with Sarah......

O_Bob, What would our world be like if Dems didn't have Sarah to pick on? She provides comic relief to an extremely stressful world. I suspect you'll have many, many opportunities to dis dat Sarah.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Tom, nice to know about you - good to remain private with intimate details - especially in this crowd! I'll let you know should she accept my tea invite! ;)

And come on, how many of the rest of us don't write notes on our hands? Or do you never do public speaking? She's in it for the long run, of that I'm sure.

Bea, but we agreed in Roe's gun/brain blog. Amazing!!!!

Mariposa 6 years ago

I would give her a nice rowboat for the lake that is in front of their house. I was told about the sheer cruelty of people who write comments for the Journal World, but did not quite believe it. May I inquire into why all the posts are so hateful and negative? Sarah Palin is an intelligent and capable woman with no pretenses. I don't agree with everything she says, but I do think that is is sincere in her beliefs. There should be no shame attached in quitting something if that is the right thing to do.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

O_Bob, I wasn't on quick enough to see what made you get pulled...:(

I'm glad you appreciate vapid people can be on both sides of the par tee.....I remember how much I disliked the cheesy nature of Edwards and it is always glorifying to find out there was a reason. We're right, we'll always have someone in our world to pick on.

Mariposa, what are your views on pop up campers? I could really use one for my upcoming birthday. I agree she is extremely intelligent and that is why she is disliked. Almost as many men dislike a strong, intelligent, outspoken woman as women do. Sad but true.

Scott Drummond 6 years ago

"Sarah Palin is an intelligent and capable woman with no pretenses..."

"I agree she is extremely intelligent ...."

OK, the first one was bad enough, but "extremely" intelligent? Please!!

And HOT!

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

O_bob, I would hope you know me well enough to let you know if I find something you say should be pulled. I honestly didn't have the chance to read it. Maybe whoever you made a comment (is Sarah reading this blog) clicked the removal button. I have used that option maybe five times in my two and a half year history blogging. One of those times was recently when somebody named Tumbliweed made an inappropriate comment on my 500 word story blog. I can't imagine you could say anything too inappropriate......

okay, I see eating dinner didn't improve your outlook on Palin. Dessert anyone? I'm going with a hot fudge sundae to celebrate the birthday girl Ticket to Iraq.....interesting job. hehe

And I agree, scratch the word 'extremely'.....I don't know anyone well enough to make that assessment.

jonas_opines 6 years ago

"May I inquire into why all the posts are so hateful and negative?"

Pretty things don't grow here in the dark. Only nasty things like toadstools and bugs with too many legs.

"Sarah Palin is an intelligent and capable woman with no pretenses. I don't agree with everything she says, but I do think that is is sincere in her beliefs."

You're welcome to believe that, but I can't begin to comprehend what you're basing that off of.

jonas_opines 6 years ago

Oh, the question!

Nothing. I might give her the time of day if she asked, on her birthday.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Oooh, you rock, honey! Best answer I've heard today. I can just picture Edwards getting down and dirty with that cheesy smile on his face. And like Sarah or not, her looks beat the heck out of his mistress's.

jonas, that's right decent of you!

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Are you sure you aren't one of those attention seekers who pulled your own comment just for the drama of it all? :)

Seems you're having the same Twilight Zone experience the rest of us are having today. Maybe the fact that is it Sarah's birthday explains all......

You don't eat sweets....but you do enjoy a good biscuit with slander jelly....I've heard...

Don't for one minute think that Playboy hasn't offered Sarah a mega-offer for a nude lay-out & don't think for one nano-second that she didn't seriously consider it. So, let's give her this: a centerfold. She's definitely on PB's list of "people we'd like to see naked" -and all the males here, including moi!

leedavid 6 years ago

I give Sarah a microphone with a 1000 watt amp attached to 50 speaker columns. Because it just bugs the heck out of the left everytime you speak. LOL!

mom_of_three 6 years ago

I would say she needs a package of notecards.
And Tom, have you seen the latest polls. Seems Palin's numbers has dropped considerably. Either the teaparty speech left people with a different idea, or else the world is really seeing her for who she really is.
There is something about her that I don't trust. And she is super annoying and sounds so patronizing every time she opens her mouth.

RoeDapple 6 years ago

Speaking of polls, RCP as of this time....

I'd give her a picture of Russia that she could see in her house.

Paul Decelles 6 years ago

Well since a brain was taken...maybe a subscription to the NYTimes so she can catch up with the news.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Good info on the polls, Roe. I feel badly no one has polled me lately. How many of you have been polled? I was interviewed about movies this past week or so.

Paul, write down a list of the magazines you'd subscribe to on her behalf. Put them on a notepad given to her by momofthree and she'll be sitting pretty at her next interview with Couric. It's so nice of you to want to help her!

I do like the idea of the picture of Russia, but maybe she's already had one up and has been telling the facts the way she sees it.

What's the guess about her favorite flavor of birthday cake?

BorderRuffian 6 years ago

I'd probably give her another set of lingerie trimmed in moose fur. She loved them last time. And she is SO hot!!!

Oh, and a Kansas hunting license.

trinity 6 years ago

again, py so eloquently says what i'm thinking. thanks py. ;)

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Pwe, you do express a strong opinion about Palin. While I agree with some of what you say, I believe the women to be intelligent. She's a quick study, 'sometimes' thinks on her feet, is cunning, has a sharp sense of humor and is adaptive. Those all seem to be signs of intelligence. Is she as bright as you? Most likely not, but you and our other brightest Americans don't have an apparent desire to run for our highest office. Does someone who runs for the Presidency inherently require major personality flaws? Perhaps.

Sarah's just getting started. She's got a large conservative base because of her stance on key issues that emulate that of millions of Americans. Respect her, dis her, she's here to stay.

I believe that if what comes out of her mouth came out of someone who didn't have her accent, the nasal tone, words ending in ie and gy (changie/changy) were stripped from her vocabulary, that she'd not only be easier to listen to, but come across as a better public speaker and be considered more intelligent.

I do give credit where it is deserved. Obama and both Clintons are stellar public speakers. George W never bothered to stand up straight at the podium and McCain (sexy little imp that he is) isn't a great orator either.

Sarah needs, wants, speech lessons. I'll have to give thought to whom that responsibility and burden should be placed upon. Suggestions anyone? No, please do not suggest Barbara Walters or Henry Kissinger! ;)

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

hitme, let us not forget Edwards.....there are so many.

A friend told me Letterman suggested on his show last night that when McCain found out it was Sarah's birthday (drum roll please) he gave her a Toyota!

trinity 6 years ago

speech lessons...somebody tell me again, in what subject did she earn a college degree?

oh that's right...fancy pageant walkin'. ;)

mom_of_three 6 years ago

The recent polls show Americans are not as infatuated with her as several months ago.
And Ronda, I agree some speech lessons would help. But I find her very patronizing. Not sure if she does it to try to appeal to people or what.

meggers 6 years ago

I think you hit the nail on the head. She has almost zero crossover appeal with dems and independents, largely because she has little or no substance and her rhetoric is extremely polarizing, but also because she makes it a point to insult voters who voted for Obama. It's sort of counter-intuitive to insult the very people you need to appeal to in order to be a viable candidate for the presidency.

number1jayhawker 6 years ago

Got to love the Libs. They are so predictable. You just knew the hate and venom would be spewing. They preach to all of us "can't we all just get along", and then they pull crap like this. Sad, really sad.

schula 6 years ago

Don't have anything to add that hasn't already been mentioned.

Just dropping in to give everyone the afternoon off. Have a great weekend!

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Obama seems to be doing a swell job of his own when it comes to insulting the people who voted for him. Snide smiles and comments to the other party should be beneath all our Presidents and candidates for same office.

The dems wear makeup and pretend to walk the walk and talk the talk. That isn't unique to Palin either. None of us are perfect. None of them are. We do have to trust, and perhaps pray, that some uniquely different politicians step forward. I can't remember ever feeling more disappointed in both parties.

beatrice 6 years ago

"Sarah needs, wants, speech lessons."

She got her college degree in communications and worked as a television announcer. If she doesn't know how to speak in public it isn't for lack of training, but for lack of having anything of substance to say. Seriously, she had to look at her hand to come up with "Energy", "Tax Cuts", and "Lift American Spirits." How does a so-called populist candidate not have that set within her DNA?

To avoid writing on her skin in the future, somebody should give here a teleprompter already.

meggers 6 years ago

The only comments I'm aware of that might be construed as "snide" are his comments to the elected leaders of both parties during the State of the Union address. And he was exactly right- we elected them to lead, not to do whatever it takes to get the partisan upper hand, or run for the hills in the face of difficult decisions. Personally, I WANT a president who is more concerned with the interests of the electorate, than with tiptoeing around the massive egos of our so-called leaders in Congress.

And I share your disappointment in both parties. I don't think the tea party folks are the answer by a long shot, but we seem to be losing more and more principled politicians(and that term itself might easily be considered an oxymoron),

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

mini teleprompter isn't a bad idea. I could use one of those myself. Oh, wait a minute. I have one. It's called my hand! It's 'dirt' cheap and I can change and/or readily reprogram it!

Let's cut the lady some slack - how often do you speak in public, any of you? Is it helpful to refer to some simple guidelines? Of course it is - I admire the woman for helping to save our environment by using her hand.

mom_of_three 6 years ago

tom, I think you hope it was just a publicity stunt. Personally, if it was a stunt, I don't think she could come up with something like that on her own.

beatrice 6 years ago

Tom, in what way would a potential presidential candidate wish to appear to be so dim that she couldn't remember something as simple as "Energy," "Tax Cuts," "Lift American Spirits"? She used her hand-written note during the Q&A -- if she had index cards, just imagine her flipping through them before she answered "Energy!" to a question.

If this was a publicity stunt to make herself look dim, then as your hero would say -- Mission Accomplished!

However, I know you aren't being serious, but there is no need to defend dumb. Supporting her is a worse idea for Republicans than running the "Anybody but Hillary" campaign proved to be.

Ronda, if you truly admire her inability to remember the most simple of populist concepts, then that is your business. However, she has shown herself again and again as lacking in any real leadership capabilities. I like and admire a lot of people, but that doesn't mean I want them to be the leader of our nation.

I do, however, hope to see her run. A series of debates against the Republicans would be priceless. You think Mitt Romney doesn't hold any grudges for being skipped over by McCain for this half-baked Alaskan? Think he won't have her for lunch? That would be rich.

shotgun 6 years ago

How about a "Hooked on Phonics" session.

PS Tom and all others who think Caribou Babymaker is HOT!, should get to town more often.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Bea, I've never said I liked or admired her - I do think she's as smart as most of the people who seem so afraid of her. There are many forms of intellect - having a degree from Harvard doesn't mean you're smarter than someone who is a maintenance worker or a farmer. It means you went a different route in your life, had differing opportunities and/or interests. Some of the smartest people I know do not hold college degrees. But why should 'liberals' be open minded when it comes to intelligence.

I'd give Sarah the same hairstylist that Edwards spent/spends so much money on - see what style they'd give her.

MeAndFannieLou 6 years ago

A pair of binoculars - to keep a closer eye on Russia A tiara and a bouquet of roses 100 lbs of loose tea

beatrice 6 years ago

Ronda, where did I say anything about intelligence being measure only by advanced degrees from an Ivy League school? I didn't, and you are projecting your own ideas on what I wrote. While you might think Palin is wicked smart, I don't. I believe most people would agree with me that one need not have advanced degrees from Harvard, or even a high school degree, to be able to remember the words "Energy," "Tax Cuts," and "Lift American Spirits."

Heck, I remember those little words having seen the clip about her appearance just once, and I certainly don't have an advanced degree from Harvard. In fact, since I don't have said degree, does that mean you think I hate myself? I'm the youngest of a large family, and the first to even go to college, which were the state colleges I could afford. So I guess I hate my whole family, too.

Nice try on lumping me in your little catagory of what a "liberal" thinks.

However, I've pointed out why I think Palin isn't the brightest bulb on the marquee. Please, do share your insights into why you think she is whip smart. I'm curious what it is that you feel makes her so intelligent.

And for the guys, she looks exactly like Peggy Hill.

mickeyrat 6 years ago

Seriously, who would need note cards or a cheat sheet to answer a question like that? I doubt that ANYONE on this forum would be particularly stumped if asked "what would your three biggest priorities be if elected president?"

It could even be an OTS question, and if someone has to make a phone call before they answer, automatic FAIL.

bisky1 6 years ago

maybe we could just turn her into joe "we fixed iraq" biden

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Good one, bisky!

Yeah, if she could smile like Edwards and Biden and puff her cheeks out like Obama when she talks, shed have it made.

Bea, take a deep breath and relax. Don't think everything I I write is about you.

And agree or not, I'd love to see you all taking turns answering questions on national television knowing NO MATTER WHAT you did, said, looked like there'd be at least half of the viewers ready to mock you.

Or is that what I experience blogging?

I don't care if Obama writes notes on his skivvies if that's what it takes to do the job.

beatrice 6 years ago

"Bea, take a deep breath and relax. Don't think everything I I write is about you."

Ronda, I can assure you that I really don't think everything you write is about me. However, I do believe you are writing to me when you start a paragraph with "Bea, ..." as you did in your 4:05 post (unless, of course, you weren't asking me to relax just now and were asking another Bea to chill).

"And agree or not, I'd love to see you all taking turns answering questions on national television knowing no matter what you did, said, looked like there'd be at least half of the viewers ready to mock you."

Why compare us all on this board with someone who has said she is considering running for president? Why not just compare her to others who might run for president?

How many other presidential-caliber candidates do you know of who can't remember simple words or phrases that supposedly define the very concepts on which he or she feels America needs? Just imagine Ronald Reagan having to look at his hand notes to answer a question.

I don't expect "us" in general to be able to handle the pressure of answering questions about what we believe America needs when asked under a national spot-light, but I do feel that should be a quality required of our presidential candidates. She was, once, a governor, after all. She should be able to answer questions in a public setting.

Oh, and I'm relaxed. Just trying to figure out why anyone might say Palin is intelligent. Likeable - I can see why someone might say that; accomplished great things - certainly much more than most, I'll give her that (although she does have a problem with quitting things before they are finished); but intelligent?

I do not know of any democrats that preach "cant we just get along" wtf are you blabbering about. I would like some bipartisan cooperation between the parties other than a pork barrel festival, but I despise the democrats that surrendered to cheney and his sock puppet.

Social justice and stewardship of the environment are not issues any democrat worthy of claiming the name could possibly mark as just "cant we get along issues"

There is only one fate that any democrat can accept as victory against bigots and hypocrits like Rush or evil selfish men like Dick Cheney, and those victory conditions are to "Crush them utterly, scatter their families before you and savor the crying and lamentation of their women and children."

I can "get along" with Palin because she is just too dumb to be a threat threat to anyone but her allies, and I mock those that believe, the left gives a damn about her or fears her.

Seriously, Sarah, you go girl, I wish you every political success and long life in the media. My only request is that if you make a sex tape dont pick any of your famous like minded friends like Rush or Ann the Canker Coulter, pick Paris, she is pretty smart!

Everybody makes mistakes, everyone needs to get a cue card or two. Most have promps.

Bea, I don't hold those who run for political office to a different set of criteria. That's not to say I don't have any expectations from them. I appreciate each politician as an individual has strengths and weaknesses.

samurai_5 6 years ago

Hmmm. What would I give Sarah Palin for her birthday? I would give her a big reminder that her and McCain blew their own campaign even if they had supporters during the election. It must be hard for her to gracefully accept the fact that she and McCain lost to someone they had no respect for to begin with. I would also give her some insight on the fact that when people think you are ignorant it doesn't mean that they fear you, it just means that they are intelligent enough to see through you. In all fairness, I know people who are conservatives that are very hard working, intelligent and compassionate people that can't stand the sight of Sarah Palin and what she claims to represent. I don't think that they should be lumped in with the likes of her simply because they are conservatives, especially when they are embarrassed that she uses such a huge platform to show everyone how opportunistic she truly is. Sarah had her chance and she blew it, and I am thankful that she doesn't have a daddy in Washington to pick up the pieces.

Scott Drummond 6 years ago

"and I am thankful that she doesn't have a daddy in Washington to pick up the pieces. "

Oh, but she does. The fine folks at Faux and other elements of the corporate media propaganda machine are going to spend the next three years rehabilitating her reputation and preparing her for the next round. The powers that run this country, and control your lives, have product to move and they are simply not going to allow their investment in this front person to go to waste. It is the george w. bush play being run again and we are supposed to be fooled because the costume is different this time.

samurai_5 6 years ago

Well, just remember. You can't polish a turd.

beatrice 6 years ago

Tom: "I give up."

We could only hope as much.

Ronda, I would never expect someone to remember a speech, but to use a script, note cards, or yes, a teleprompter. We aren't talking here about the speech. She used her notes on her Q&A because she apparently couldn't remember that she stood for "Energy," "Tax Cuts," and wanting to "Lift American Spirits."

It is the complete simplicity of her hand-note is what just slays me, and makes me ask why anyone can think she is an intelligent person. On what would one base such a perception? Where has this intelligence been demonstrated?

I'm really not asking just to rag on you about it, but ask out of curiosity, because when I look at Palin I see an opportunist with an over inflated sense of self who has finished little of what she has started, and she doesn't strike me as particularly bright.

Scott Drummond 6 years ago

"She hasn't made a dime off me."

Well, let's see. Since quitting as Alaska's governor, Ms. Palin makes her living as an author and FAUX "News" analyst. I'll take you at your word that you may not have purchased her book (after all, why would anyone?) I cannot accept any claim that you are not among the more ardent FAUX viewers, however. FAUX pays Caribou Barbie for her "analysis" as a result of advertising revenue. So, if you view programming on the republican party's propaganda channel, then I think she's made a dime or two off of you (as well as lots of innocent and thinking people.) To be good to your claim you'd have to stop viewing the channel, something I'd recommend to all.

Ronda Miller 6 years ago

Bea, busy day! I don't ever perceive you as ragging on me. I've found you to be open minded and interested as well as interesting.

While I'm working on the fact that I'm judgemental, I wouldn't assume someone making notes on their hand has anything to do with intellect. One has nothing to do with the other in my mind. I don't know why she used her hand. It could have been any of several reasons. She was exhaused from traveling and wanted to make sure they didn't slip her mind, she is at the age to be going through menopause and it can strip numerous thoughts from one's mind, she didn't have a notebook handy, she thought of a few last minute items, it was a habit from her childhood when she cheated on exams. I don't know her reasons. It wasn't a big deal to me. When Obama thought he was in one state but in actuality was in another, I didn't jump to the conclusion that he was stupid. I wrote it off to any number of conditions: exhausted, nervous, slip of the tongue, too many cities in the same day. Politicians lead an incredibly busy life. They can't and don't know the answers to everything. In my mind, what is important is the growth she has shown, the obvious interest in bettering her knowledge. I believe she's putting forth a lot of effort and that's an admirable quality.

"I believe she's putting forth a lot of effort and that's an admirable quality."

Ronda, fair enough. She is indeed putting forth a lot of effort - toward promoting herself. If only she had put forth that effort toward the rather high position of governor to which she was elected instead of quitting, then the effort might be something to admire.

Effort, however, does not equal intelligence, which is what I asked about.

to all the posters arguing over her intelligence, i say she is dumb because stupid means you don't have any intelligence, dumb means you don't use what little you have.

and now, for my belated bd present: respect because she doesn't give any and she doesn't get any...

Has anyone said they'd give her a variety of colors for her contact lens choices? She'd be able to change her eye color along with her mood, speech, emotion.
