Song Titles and Lyrics: It's About Time!

Time - often it escapes us, betrays us, fools us. How many 'times' have you thought you were 'on time' only to have 'time' seemingly disappear. When we are young, 'time' drags on forever. As we age, 'time' seems to race and there are never enough hours in our days (or nights). Have you ever done anything in the 'nick of time', 'wasted time' or missed out on something special by 'one split second'?

RoeDapple's suggestion for this week's song title game about time - past, present and future - seems to be 'timely' in nature with the addition of an extra hour on Sunday morning. How did you spent that 'time'?

Please post a song that includes mention of time in its title and/or lyrics. Do post one song title per blog. Do include a link to your favorite performance/performer if you can.

This should be a terrific way to pass time on this beautiful Monday! Get your timer out (even you old timers and two timers). Ready, set...go!

Ronda's got this one right in the title of the blog, but nobody's mentioned it—there was a mid-60s one-season-wonder TV show called “It's About Time,” about which I remember absolutely nothing but a fragment of the theme song, which was imprinted on my mind (or on my cheek) in a most unpleasant way. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

And I don't think I would even remember the song but for this bratty kid in our neighborhood, who used to get off on slapping younger kids then running away. Her parents were menacing lowlifes, so the little snot got away with it. (You may believe, dear readers, that karma caught up with the whole family of ne'er-do-wells as the kids grew up, got on drugs, got knocked up, dropped out, etc..)

It would be hard to rate one's favorite songs, since you want different ones depending on what frame of mind you're in as well as to conjure different memories, but for me this is one I would have to take along if I were going to be plopped down on a deserted island with a finite amount of music and other supplies.

The words demonstrate such a depth of understanding about time, relationships, longing, regret—all without belaboring the point. The details in the lyrics are so personal and yet so familiar to anyone who hears the threads of their own past and regrets entwining with the ones she presents.

I have always thought this was utterly brilliant and haunting.
