Backyard Fence Blog: 2 b continued here and now!
Hey, Neighbor! Our last fence was torn down because it was taking too long to get to, so here is our new edition to the neigborhood.
Please come here when you want to talk to someone, day or night, and just about anything you might have a desire to talk about will probably be going on. We have a huge neighborhood and experts on medical information, birds, toliets, and gardening live just on the other side of the fence. You name it, we find a resource for it.
Sometimes we just simply chat and other times we might have a friendly backyard spat, but it is all in fun and a desire to know each other better.
See you over the fence!

Hey, neighbor, I have a question. I have been seeing all of your roofs replaced on your houses the last week or two. My neighbor to my south, to my east, and to my north have all done this.
My question is: is this being paid for by your home owners insurance because of the high wind storm we had a couple of weeks back?
Were local roofs greatly damaged? Just thought I would check to see what others knew about this situation. I don't want to be the only house on the block with a bad roof!

tvc, thanks for popping in for a little chat. Sorry I was not home at the time! I just was checking with my “rea” neighbor and they are getting new roofs because of the recent high wind storm. Guess I better call my insurance agent quickly! If I have need a new roof, I sure want it to be covered.
How many other neighbors have had new roofs?
I am not sure why it says as many comments as it does, tvc, but it looks great!

I did back in 99. I had the first “new high def (lol) architectural roof in the neighborhood”. The insurance man came after some hail, and said it was damaged enough. They can tell sometimes by the amount of roofing gravel that ends up in the guttering.
My “perfect home” male neighbor next door called me one day. He's in new construction plumbing. He said he was jealous of me for having the nicest roof in the area.
Funny.
I held the honor until the tornado came through and tore the place up, then lots of people got the new shingles!
Careful on making claims, it sets badly with the ins co. Don't until you have to.

I know someone who works at a great rate depending on what you need done. “Dan, Dan he's our man, if he can't do it no one can!” And he says,, “You've been watching too much television.”
At least with bathrooms you are supposed to recoup your costs and add on to your home value. Let me know if you want his name - any of you other neighbors have some experts?

I have a theory about the inflated counts, I think the count goes up, people get disappeareded, and they don't readjust those particular counts. either that, or those are pseudoposts, from another dimension that just can't be displayed in this dimension. and, to read them, you have to put on those glasses you got at the theater to watch the old “3d” movies.”
well, mrs. gnome got her surgery site examined and uncovered by doc today, doing good. now, I have her putting vitamin-E on the surgical site daily.

okay its not the foundation, not the roof, but the plumbing, that's what women really look for, isn't it. and, you know, curb appeal.

gnome, please tell yellowrose hello and that I am glad she seems to be healing well. Smart move with the vitamin E - it works wonderfully well - at least that is what I hear.
gnome, I'm not sure about the inflated counts - it had it listed as a couple before anyone posted at all - throws us off sometimes. No names in red that have had comments deleted and no signs of anyone being disappearedededed.
I don't know that I am looking for plumbing, but I am very glad when my friends tell me they have gotten rid of theirs! :) Can't imagine what that must be like.

“I have a theory about the inflated counts, I think the count goes up, people get disappeareded, and they don't readjust those particular counts.”
The counts do not get readjusted. If someone like le makes his weekly reappearence and makes 10 posts, then they delete his account again, the count will still read 10. It appears the count is displayed by a simple counter that increases every time a post is made, it doesn't actually count them every time someone accesses the page. Picture one of those little hand clickers they use at the door of some nightclubs - it only *increases* when they let people in, it doesn't go back down when people leave. And using such a system is more accurate of how popular a thread is - it reflects how many times someone actually commented, not how many were acceptable to the post-Gestapo or how many survived their author being purged for comments he might have posted to a completely different thread.

Glad to find the two of you are starting to heal up, albeit more gradually than you might like. Are you giving the credit to ronda's tamales? Or that candy bar with almonds..that made me want one! On the OTS, I also wanted to write. A can of Blue diamond smoked almonds. Can't stop eating them.
The storms and rain today have been starting on I 70, just west of Salina. But now I see they are flaring up in bits as low as the OK panhandle. Most of it is moving north.
But if you can picture a counter-clockwise rotation, the bottom-most, small, forming storms are in the bottom spin of the rotation, making them head to the north east.
Now these are still a long ways away, but since the temp is dropping, and the night is young, we'll just have to see what comes our way.

Don't worry, I'm sure she'll let you have it back soon enough if you ask nicely - or even if you don't. We've been taking turns with ours for several weeks now. Just as the wife is starting to get over it, I'll be coming down with it, then as I'm starting to to get better, the little one gets it, then it goes back to the wife (rinse and repeat). I think the wife is just starting to get over round three, and yes, that means I'm starting to get it again…
Tomorrow we shall be kitten-less. They were supposed to go yesterday, but with the new job I figured I'd wait 'til tomorrow rather than rush home and take them up there after work. Those kitties are adorable, I once rescued a white kitty but she ran away, I was so sad that my younger got a Husky from the Humane society for me until one of the neighbors locked her up in their backyard. So, in fear of losing more cats and dogs and be heartbroken, I was not allow to keep anymore pets for many years. In 2004, I rescued a Dachshund-Chihuahua mixed. She was in so bad shape when I got her but I nursed her back to health and we have been good buddies since, she likes to do things to annoy me sometimes but I got a good laugh out of it.

Funny but I just noticed that they're lying there in reverse birth order - the tawny one hear the tail was the firstborn, followed by the grey one next to him, then the red one, and the baby is nearest her head. I never paid attention but I wonder if they've always had assigned spots?

That storm showed a lot of lightning as it moved in from the lake. The bolts were so intense and frequent, that the cat that normally shows no reaction, was freaking out a bit with each clap. It really surrounded the house and came in through each window and door.
I was expecting to get hit around here again. Wasn't looking forward to replacing whatever might get zapped.
They cancelled the warning before the red, heavy area had left SW Lawrence..the storm still raged for a while as it finished crossing town.

Just after the storms passed, I heard a bird unknown to me.
Then forgot.
But just now a bird walked outside the window.
I found the screen and my vision made clear viewing impossible, but it was as big as a robin, maybe a touch bigger.
It was redish on the top, and whiteish on the belly/lower section.
I could see well enough to think it isn't a female cardinal, a bird I can spot easily when I get a brief look.
My bird book was moved a year ago, and it may take forever online.

Our kitties have a very effective way of telling us when the litter box needs changing. (As it is they get scooped twice a day and changed every three days or so.)
Momma kitty's very sad today. :(
We are kittenless, I'm slightly annoyed, seems when I called to find out about bringing them to the Humane Society, the reason they stuck me on the waiting list was that they thought I was from out of the county 'cause of my phone number. I could have brought them as soon as they were weaned and beat the summer kitten rush. Wanda is very very upset, she has been looking for the kids non-stop since this morning. It's pretty sad, really, but we just couldn't keep any of them.

very good themiddlechild!
well now we're under a flood watch, conditions are rife for flash flooding, here, points west, nw, n, and ne.
just having a quiet day so far.
now nota, you don't catch that again! and, how's your wife's pain doing, I hope still improved.
never heard from sissez, pm'ed him/her, wrote here, dunno. oh well hope the flight is comfortable.
what gets me about flying is not a phobia, but:
you're trapped in a closed cylendar with all those people, one of whom could have 'bird flu' or ebola, with modern travel these days. I once heard the story of an alaskan air jet with well over a hundred passengers aboard. one on the plane had the flu of the season. the plane was stuck on the ground for a few hours, maybe at a hub. when checked later, something like 95% of passengers tested positive for the flu that that one carried. of course with a situation like this, the passengers weren't tested before they got on the plane. but being stuck inside that metal and the air shared.
ah, sharing.
should read “cylindar,” and oh look, I've given Sissez something *else* to be afraid of ! wow, sorry.

not..thanks for addressing mike's post.
I read that, and I was speechless. You had my thoughts exactly.
Gnome, just now I read the irks thread, and there was a new person. My instinct was to welcome them, then I thought about what happened to you, so I didn't.

And lo and behold, there it was. Until 4:00 a.m., too.
