Nick, I felt like I was right there. Kudos. Beautiful shots.
i was there for a while before the auction started, it was kinda sad
It was a rundown place for sure, but it was like a secret garden in a way. One loaded with these old Packards. It will soon be all cleaned up and made spiffy and shiny and another part of 'old' Lawrence will soon be gone. It was always cool, knowing that this yard full of these great old cars was there. Anyway, Packard enthusiasts tend to be radicals when it comes to restoration so most of these probably went to good homes -or will soon be resold to one.
Wish I could view the video... LJWorld, when are you going to start producing iPad compatible videos?
Couple of Packard stories: We travel West on US56 often! Out in Western Kansas at either Montezuma or one of it's neighbors, there is a parking lot along the BNSF tracks that contains at least 15 old Packards and a couple of Hudsons and a Nash or two. Been sitting for years , does not seem to be much action about restoring them! At least out there, it is so dry that they do not rust away!
Second story, travelling West of Ottawa on KS68, yesterday June 3rd. we passed a house that had many old cars in various state of dis-repair. There on a auto hauler trailer set one of the recently auctioned Packards (from Lawrence), a two toned one, a 56 vintage (I think), a green and white one!
