KU installs new bronze Jayhawk near Anderson Family Football Complex
A new bronze sculpture Jayhawk landed outside the east side of the Anderson Family Football Complex, on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011. The sculpture will begin a tradition for the football players to touch the Hawk's beak for luck when exiting the locker-room during games.

I'm a little confused about the article stating that a 3 D Jayhawk has never been done before. There are plenty of them all over town and even a few in the Student Union display, there is even one in the lobby of the Journal World.

This is the first 3D of the Sandy Jayhawk. Yes, there are others obviously, but this representation is a new effort to bring to life that which has only been a sculpture in relief. Go check it out, it is quite well done.
