T.J. Campsey, a protester with Occupy Lawrence, talks about the group's meeting with a delegation of city officials, who told them to leave the park by Thursday night.
Copy and paste the link:
If they want to go camping, I'm sure there's a KOA Park somewhere nearby that they could occupy. For $40/night.
The right to peaceably assemble has been taken away. They were not doing harm to anything and were entitled to this by the Constitution. I don't understand the City's point of view at all. If they were causing any kind of disruption or we loud and boisterous, then I could understand the forceful removal. But they weren't. They were just sitting in and freezing their behinds off in this weather trying to raise awareness of the class warfare and unfair financial policies with the confines of the USA.
What happened to letting them just be there? Wasn't it just a few days ago the city said it was okay?
Why should they get special privileges? Regular people can't camp in the park overnight. Are they better than the rest of us? Thank God this country is a Republic (Rule of Law) and not a Democracy (Majority Rule).
There are rules! They have to be followed! Hope they pick up their trash on the way out!
Glad someone grew a backbone. Hope it spreads.
I'm thinking of taking my fifth wheel down there and posting up for a couple of weeks (sarcasm). The point has been made (I think)... They hate Capitalism, corporate America, and social welfare...it's time for them to go back home to their friends and families.
I believe they are against facism, corporate welfare, corporate socialism and unjust practices across the board. These are some bright young minds with lofty yet legitimate points of interest.
Is there any reason government officials and white collar banker types should not be prosecuted for fraud and whatever crimes may have been committed?
RINO's have a long and colorful criminal history that in reality have put the nations security at risk. The Bush/Cheney home loan scam is but one incident.
Then there was the Iran/Contra secret weapons smuggling fiasco whereby Iran was the good "guy" for awhile. Then again it was a major crime involving smuggling weapons for Reagan/Bush which was against USA law. This is number 2 of several I believe.
This group can use this park everyday if they wish between 6AM and 11:30 PM.
It takes guts and serious motivation to participate in such an endeavor. Obviously they believe in themselves and the cause.
They look like a bunch of dirty little feet gnomes this city inherits and feeds. Put these gnomes in a cage in the park and put them on display. Place a sign just off the sidewalk, Please Don't feed the Park Urchins; Just Poke them if you feel up to it..........
I believe the gnomes feeding in the park are brainless social misfits with no direction in life that are Lawrence's Blood Sucking MOOCHERS.....
Wyatt, You know this because . . . ?
...Because he's SEEN them.
I love watching hippies try to articulate their thoughts in any sort of coherent fashion. It's like watching a mouse in a maze in slow motion. You don't know if the mouse will find the way out but you know it is going to take a long time. Fascinating that the guy in the video lives in Leavenworth and not Lawrence. Perhaps Leavenworth isn't as hospitable to people breaking city ordinances?
Are we allowed to link to known registered sex offenders profiles? I have seen at least 2 in the videos posted by LJW. I suppose they have the right to assemble in a public park frequented by children too.
merrill - Just where do you come up with all of this propaganda? Do you stay up all night or just go to the library? How many days did you spend in the park? These folks need to get a life. Get off their dead butts and get a job. Let's just hope for a brutal winter!
hell no we won't go
Occupy Doug Compton's front lawn!
