Plows head out as snow begins to fall in and around Lawrence
As much as 5-8" of snow was expected to fall in Lawrence Jan. 19, 2011. The snow started around lunch time, and put down a layer of flakes while many folks were still at work. City of Lawrence street crews began 24-hour operations at 4 a.m. and had pretreated most roads before the first flakes hit. As the snow falls, they switch from pre-treating all streets to ensuring the primary roads in the city remain passable.
