Sam Brownback's first Cabinet meeting

Just hours after being sworn into office on Monday, Gov. Sam Brownback, a Republican, convened his first Cabinet meeting. Brownback handed out laminated copies of five goals that he campaigned on during the November election and charged his cabinet secretaries to help achieve those goals. The goals are to increase Kansans' net personal income, private sector employment, the percentage of 4th graders reading at grade level, the percentage of high school graduates who are college-ready, and decrease the percentage of Kansas children living in poverty.
