Although money in the district budget is tight, Eudora High School is considering building a new stadium. School officials believe the facility upgrade is long overdue.

Is smart to lay off teachers and build a new stadium at the same time?
Need a new stadium because of cell phones? Huh? I don't follow, kids practice and text at the same time?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a new stadium. When we were kids in Eudora we had to be bused to Baldwin in the summer just to go swimming and play tennis.THANKS to a younger mayor, that changed for the next generation. I just don't understand the cell phone angle.
I could be wrong, but I think the comment about the cell phones was a continuation of his statement about how long it takes the kids to get to the track after school since it's not located on the same campus, and because of school traffic and other distractions. The reporter had just made the comment about the kids' safety before the coach made the cell phone statement.
There must be something wrong with the law that lets school districts spend this kind of money on capital outlay when teachers and programs are getting the axe. What are those folks in Topeka doing?
