With the mercury in the teens Friday morning, hundreds of people lined up outside the I-70 Business Center in North Lawrence to get a prime choice on donated coats and other warm clothing as part of Scotch Fabric Care’s 23rd annual Share the Warmth campaign.
A fire Monday night at an east Lawrence vehicle detailing shop was an accident because of an improperly installed flue duct system for a heated power washer, a Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical spokeswoman said Thursday.
Changes to the Kansas Turnpike include the addition of toll-taking machines. The new automated system will help cut down on labor costs and turnpike officials hope it will help expedite the flow of traffic once people get used to the system.
