A week after two men died in an east Lawrence homeless camp, city officials have taken action.

Now these people who choose to live free will invade the downtown community building and leave their filth (clothes, drug needles, etc) in the shower area. The police should arrest them for vagrancy and force them to tear down their own encampment.
Agreed r.e. the bicycles - If folks can't afford a car in this town, you're screwed. Replace those bicycles! Also, let's hope the transit votes pass - Vote yes on #2 and #3.What this sad story points to, in part, is a serious lack of affordable housing and support for the homeless (programs to get them into jobs - transportation is an aspect of this). Affordable housing should be required with each new project, and being able to get around without a car is a must.
What was the point of destroying their bicycles?
