Your house may be home sweet home, but it likely isn't worth as much as it used to be.

I like the appraiser's positive comments that Lawrence housing is stable and far better off than most of the country. He said that 80% of homeowners will see their values stay the same or decrease slightly from 2 to 5%. So, does that mean that 20% of homeowner's values still went up in this market? A few years ago, many people were saying that they wish they would have bought a home or investment property in Lawrence back when homes cost less. Well, now they cost less. It is time to buy before they start jumping back up again. Some investors are quietly buying up investment property at lower than previous prices in Lawrence. Lawrence is solid in many ways with KU, Hallmark, and all the wonderful features of our town that attract quality people here. We will be fine and the good news is that it appears our property taxes will go down, at least for next year. I bet they don't go down much, if any, more.
