Only in Lawrence. They will ban chickens but not Pit Bulls.

Why are they picking on the chickens and their owners? It sounds to me like the city is chosing to discriminate against this man having the legal right to raise his own food. How much is a health threat over two chickens? Samonila, I thought that was from under cooked chicken and raw eggs. Doesn't sound like he is going to cook his chickens and how he eats his eggs is not the business of the city officials. City Council needs to look at fixing the potholes, taking out a few of those irritating round abouts, and leave people and chickens alone. I am not saying its ok to have a full blown farm in city limits, just set limits on the numbers like there is for dogs. Limit 4 or so. Sounds like the council can't find anything else to "look" at.
