Annual fireworks show to get new home

Those trying to see the Fourth of July fireworks from downtown Lawrence this year will probably miss out. The Lawrence Jaycees have moved this year's show out of Burcham Park because of safety concerns.

Lame! I just moved to a neighboorhood where I could see the display from my front yard, and they move it back across town!!!!!

I always went to see the fireworks. Now that they are being moved why?

Isn't there still a display in North Lawrence? When I watched the show at Burcham Park there was always another smaller show (it seemed like something organized anyway) going on "up thar"Bummer dsmith... you'll have to move down to Clinton Lake. Though there seem to be quite a few new houses on the market thereabouts.

Whoa! Wait a minute... How is this supposed to be more safe? Can you imagine all the drunk celebratory twenty-somethings driving around Clinton Lake to see the fireworks? Or how about the seemingly inevitable increase of illegal in-town use of fireworks? Seems like a waste of money too.

Does this mean the fireworks won't be in the sky anymore?
