KU men's, women's basketball will wear new uniforms in 2010-11
Parrothead8, I'm aware of how press releases work. The company sends what they WANT the newspaper to print, and the newspaper staff uses its journalistic abilities to present that information in a way that benefits its readers — not the company.
By presenting the above statement as fact, rather than company stance, the newspaper has endorsed the company's claims. Had they simply inserted, "Adidas says the new uniforms....," it would have been apparent that it was a company statement.
And you're right, it's just a short story about basketball uniforms. But if you stop demanding that at least some thought is put into each and every story published, it becomes a slippery slope of whether or not you're actually practicing journalism or simply re-printing company materials.

KU men's, women's basketball will wear new uniforms in 2010-11
"The new uniforms, which are made from 60 percent recycled materials, feature adidas’ Formotion technology, which reduces seams, decreases friction between the garment and the player’s skin and optimizes the player’s natural movement through specially constructed material. adidas reduced uniform weight and increased player comfort by switching front and back numbers from heavier, dense materials to breathable mesh."
So says the Adidas press release. Nice journalism. Ho-hum.

A rendering of KU's new football scoreboard by Daktronics, Inc.
The scoreboard says Sooners, but it's clearly Nebraska. Sigh.

Reality rundown: Man, it feels good to be right
As much as I hate to admit it, Irina deserved to win. She was best designer in a season of weak designers — but that doesn't make it easier to accept that she won. At least Carol Hannah would have been grateful. Irina never said thank you to the judges, forced Althea to hug her TWICE and then called the victory a "pat on the back." Gross.

Project Runway: Space diapers away!
Ra'Mon-Lawrence also had a chance to win, but his dress was just a bit too predictable. As bad as Ari was, I think the judges got it wrong. She was at least interesting; Qristyl should have been gonzo.
