School board to look at preliminary bond numbers

"The first priority involves ... providing each school with a separate gymnasium and cafeteria."

Wakarusa Valley Elementary has a full size gymnasium and kitchen along with a separate cafeteria. Makes one wonder, again, why that school was ever closed.

"the board will hear a presentation from the Human Resources department about a new online tool called Teacherinsight to improve teacher recruitment and hiring, and consider approving a contract with Gallup Consulting to implement that tool at a one-year cost of $21,000."

Will this tool replace one of the many individuals in the top heavy HR department?

Unless more accountability is established for USD 497, a bond issue will never pass. Patrons are tired of being deceived by this district's administrators and school board.

Opinion: There's no worse place than the road for KU football

At least Turner Gill was a classier coach than Mangio or Weis could ever aspire to be; currently, the KU football program is embarrassing and a money drain.

I agree, call it a season and drop the program; enough is enough!

Crucial interception helps Free State defeat rival Lawrence High

Great game by two excellent football programs! Congrats to the Firebirds! Who knows there may be another rematch in the near future. Best of luck to both city teams, the Lawrence community is proud of your efforts.

Any chance the Firebirds or Lions could take on Texas today at Memorial Stadium? The projected outcome might be different. :-)

First Bell: Vaccination clinics coming up for staff; clarification on voting with student IDs; Pinckney science club alive and kicking

Alex - could you share the dates/times and schools that flu shots will be available to staff. There are retired LPS staff who wish to get their flu shots and have not received any info from the district. Thanks.
