Biography
I have been a member of the National Pony Express Association California Division since 2007 and have just completed my 4th Re-Ride this year, our 150th Anniversary. I've ridden my whole life I love being able to be a part of the NPEA, a group that preserves the memory of the Pony Express that made such an impact on American history even though it was only in operation for 19 months. With the call "Rider Away!" I feel the Riders of 150 years ago with me when my horse and I fly through the Sierras in the moonlight. Our motto is the same "The Mail Must Go Through!"
XP Rider Comin' In!
I started a small scale horse rescue in 2004 and since have placed 32 horses. Most are both emotionally and physically abused and have lost the trust they once had and they stay with me as long as they need to.
In February 2010 I founded Save the Ranch Dogs Rescue in memory of my dog Lew. Because of him I learned the fate most ranch dogs face when they are no longer able to work. Lew was a working cow dog, a large, rough coated Border Collie he worked on a 47,000 acre ranch in Central CA. where he and 3 other dogs worked a herd between 500 - 1000 head of cattle. Often the rough coat border collie will one day over heat and when that happens they can no longer work because they're prone to over heating. To the ranchers like everything else on the ranch these dogs are considered tools and if they can't work they have to go. Unfortunately, most ranchers shoot them. I happened to be at the ranch on a gather when Lew over heated and asked if I could have him, that's how I got the best dog I've ever had. Save the Ranch Dogs Rescue is dedicated in saving adult working stock dogs, (we don't take pups), regardless of breed, that are no longer able to work and place them in loving forever homes. They make wonderful companion dogs and are already very well trained. It is now June and STRDR has placed 6 dogs since February!
