Letter: Capital flight

I cannot contain my disgust at the sight, in a CNN report, of lawmakers fleeing Washington, D.C.

Well, you missed the big news, Obama taking a weekend and playing golf with Tiger Woods instead of staying in the White House and working on this overly politicized problem

Letter: The bottom line

What is really important is not handing a debt to our "children" to have to pay off but it is ok to hand them an uninhabitable scorched earth to try to live on.

Sweeping abortion bill approved by Kansas House committee

Republicans showing us how to get big government even bigger. Big government is ok as long as it is theirs. Can hardly wait for the public lynching of all these tyrants .

Letter: Standout citizen

I can't get over all the crybaby's who were inconvenienced by the foot of snow we had. The city could have done some things differently and probably better but to rail on them for the job they did is ridiculous. To clear every square inch of streets on everyones schedule is impossible. I wonder how many of these people complaining would have the street cleaning funds cut completely if Brownback said the citites now have to cut taxes more and more and there will be no emergency funding for snow removal. Heck, throw in police and fire while were at it. Oh, my bad, they already have.

And by all means, kudos to the white truck. Being stuck in the snow is no fun.

Health care providers oppose Republican resolution to not expand Medicaid

The Flatlanders in our legislature are once again making themselves the laughing stock of the nation. How long can they continue to stick with their "look bad do the wrong thing" image. It will be accumulative and eventually they will have to go ahead and chew up that foot that is lodged in their mouths. By then, the jokes about Kansas will be rampant

Sound Off: Roundabouts

I think your original comment above might be a bit of an exaggeration but I drive through there a lot and it is about a toss up between people who think you should just stop at a yield sign and think about it for a while before and half the people just blast through no matter what. After dealing with these idiots it seems they are 9 out of 10 of the drivers. Most of the roundy's in lawrence are really disadvantaged by being to small for them to work smoothly. Although, I can't imagine what the 9 of 10 would do with more traffic at a roundy. I think they would short out.

I agee gate however I think it is short sighted to limit your comments to the state of kansas. I find these problems every where I drive and I drive in many states. Now if you want to say Kansas should be educated enough to not elect monkeys to its legislature and the governors office, I would say you would be correct in singling out kansas.

Letter: Screening error?

So fred, if I follow you correctly, then you would say the congress's exploitation of Brian Terry's death as well as the deaths of our diplomats in Benghazi is equally tragic. Exploiting a tragedy and especially the loss of American citizens to move the exploiters agenda is not only a tragedy but just plain wrong.
