KU outlines significant cuts if Legislature cuts higher education funding

Nothing about cutting back on the administration or all the associate vice provosts or associate deans or other people at KU who do not teach, do no research, bring no dollars nor recognition to KU. The chancellor should take a cut is salary, rather than probably get an automatic pay raise. There is a lot that could be cut at KU before students and faculty positions. But why cut the contributing people at the expense of the suits and blowhards?

Rain or shine, pastor’s daily devotion to running carries prayers though Lawrence

What if you do not want to be prayed for? Imagine an atheist walking the streets, contemplating the evolutionary events that led to the birds, trees and barking dogs.
Would the LJW find that newsworthy?
Religious people are tolerated in this country and get reported on by the press, as if it's interesting.
A totally stupid, meaningless act, matched by a very poorly written story.

Lawrence school board’s goals outlined for bond issue

Maybe the current board was not there when decisions were made to build the sports complexes and close Wakarusa, but Doll was. Why should anyone ever believe what he says? Once he gets the bond money, the priorities will shift and local elementary schools will close.

University rankings discussion on agenda

When businesses have downturns like what's happening (and been happening for years) at KU, leadership is questioned. When Hemenway came to KU, he promised to get KU into the top 25 and KU sunk in ranking. But his status and salary did not suffer. KU administrartors from the from the associate deans to the myriad of vice provosts to the top people are paid very well, but they continue to fail in bringing up the rankings. They all should be given pay cuts, or for Gray-Little, should resign.

KU eliminating 11 jobs and not filling 110 open positions

The university should get rid of high paid spokesperson like Bretz. She makes six figures and says nothing but platitudes. One can always predict her comments. They release the staff who help students and keep a mouthpiece.
