Line-cutting, mobbing has KU Athletics reviewing Late Night admittance protocol

Maybe KU officials will find a way to push LateNight into downtown Lawrence, like every other event they don't want to deal with. The University really does run the town afterall.

Mother Earth News Fair expected to draw 10,000 to downtown Lawrence

Only Ed Begley? Really? I mean REALLY? What about Springfield's own Sheryl Crow - she's in for just a sheet or two of TP. How about Leavenworth's own Missy Etheridge, rebel that she is. Hell, the organizers surely (don't call me Shirley) could have dug up a couple of regional free spirits to put a local spin on this night with the crickets (don't call me Buddy, Holly.) My only real serious question is, where will the free showers be located now that the pool is drained and closed for the season?

What does the Affordable Care Act mean for you?

I just heard a drone fly overhead, despite the "no drone rule" soon to come to Lawrence. Obamacare is now in effect. (Move to the line on the left, keep your head down and nobody get's hurt.) Might be an IRS drone making sure we're all gunna sign up for the exchanges, ... or the NSA, making sure we're all keeping our noses clean, ... or perhaps, a Department of State drone looking for answers to solve the Benghazi mystery, ... or just your plain 'ol EPA drone looking for evidence of global warming / climate change / green house gases / or someone smoking. That's a government I can trust in. (I wonder what color of star you have to sew onto your coat if you don't sign up for health care?) Sleep well Lawrence, sleep well.

City voices support for $725k loan to shelter but wants further discussion of terms

It's a 3-ring circus, and nobody is sure where to look 'cause each ring has another act, outside of and away from core services, asking for $$$. Step right up, buy some $15 dollar day-old popcorn, and watch the show. Only in Lawrence, folks. Only in Lawrence.

Homeless shelter seeks $725,000 loan from city

Good loan or not, bad, bad idea. What happened to the rule of checking out a building / infrastructure prior to purchase? I guess you go back to where the deep pockets are to ask for more, again, and again, and again. And no idea what the savings will be for a sweet-heart loan? Unbelievable.

Downtown promoter seeks to close part of Massachusetts Street for free, outdoor movie

All these silly events that want street closings for this, and street closings for that, are a waste of tax payer money and resources and should be halted permanently. Someone, somewhere, should grow a pair and just say NO. And while I'm at it, the same goes for the sign holders in the intersection at 23rd and Iowa. Just say NO.
