North Lawrence accident leaves pedestrian with serious injuries

Why don't you get another hobby? One that doesn't include constant self-verification byway of belittling others in an anonymous blog for the Lawrence Journal World. You single-highhandedly degrade this quality paper and this quality community and the folks that make an attempt in other, more valuable ways, to contribute. No wonder we can't get more quality people running for office, it's because of people like you. I agree with repaste, good luck in life sir. Prayers for this man and his family.

Alvamar Country Club strikes new management deal, takes itself off the market

This is great, would hate to see it sold. Some people don't really understand what we have right here in Lawrence. The Kansas Golf Assn. and GCSAA are both here because of Billings. They are the only 36 hole golf facility in the state.

Lawrence City Commission candidates explain views on proposed $25M recreation center

not at all interested in Soden. Let's hope that her biased, constricted viewpoints don't make it to the table. She does not, and probably never will, represent the Lawrence community and its DIVERSITY, values, traditions and what it needs to be at this point in history. Soden, please understand that, although it's not personal, you're not qualified to represent this community at this time. Try again in 10 years.

Genesis takes over operations of Lawrence Athletic Club; $4 million remodel on tap

This is really too bad. Another local business goes out. I'm just not in to the corporate feel. That's why I like to live here in Lawrence. With all of these corporate businesses taking over I really worry about the character of this town. I've been with LAC for 15 years. I have always felt that it wasn't perfect but it was my hometown gym. Talking with Max in the locker room, interacting with KU athletes and just a great sense of community in general was the best part. Obviously, nostalgia doesn't make money and i would have tightened things up if I was looking at the bottom line but I just really hope they somehow hold onto the local, hometown feel that made LAC successful. Looking forward to the future but not expecting much after looking at the current Genesis location in town. Expecting disappointment and raised prices...
