In Lawrence, anti-bullying efforts depend on the school

I think you missed my point... I do not agree with bulling what so ever! I am saying that most everyone is bullied at one point in there life. If you have not been, then great for you! You are lucky! My wife also was bullied, threatened with violence and lived the hell that you talk of, so if you think I am condoning this, you are sadly mistaken!

Ironic as it may seem, Dylan's father and uncle were two of the biggest bullies in the Tonganoxie school district when I was growing up! I remember this explicitly, also being flipped to the ground on one occasion by his uncle when I was very young. I would also add that Dylan did his fair share of bullying also as my son was the victim of his karate laced beating accompanied by his sister at the time. I witnessed this myself! We were at a church function with our two children and they went out to play and were confronted by Dylan and his sister. Dylan was the aggressor early on and when the other kids had enough, he started getting his what for and he didn't like it! Everyone was bullied to some degree in school, it's part of growing up, this is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black here!

Police chief presses city for rifle program

I would say that the .223 is not small for it's intended purpous. Otherwise the military would not have so many of them.

I could not agree more, however, it is not out of the officers pocket since they are paid by the citizens of the community. They are merely paid in hardware instead of coin. NEVER take a stick to a gunfight!

It has been proven time and time again that welfare does not work. I have first hand experience managing rental apartments with this problem. There are individuals that are perfectly capable of working but refuse to work because it is too easy to get free money from US! The government cannot "give" something to someone, unless they first "take" it away from someone else! Teach a man to fish! So the job you can find is not a great one....so what!? Maybe it takes two jobs to make ends meet, there are jobs out there, we just don't want to do that because it is beneath us to work there! I know I have had jobs over the years that I did not like or it was not a prestigious job, but it fed the bulldog! It just makes you work harder to get out of where you are. It used to be that it was beneath us to take welfare, now it is a way of life for some, AND it has become generational! Where else in the world can you be below the poverty level and still have a cell phone, car and cable TV? A hand up is one thing... a hand out is money out of my pocket and I am sick and tired of freeloaders!

That is the problem exactly! I should not have to learn another language because there are ILLEGALS coming into my country! Wake up! I learned spanish because I wanted too, not because I have to! If you want to become a citzen of a country then learn the language of that country! Yes, contrary to what our so called president says, this is an english speaking country! We are also a Christian nation, founded on Christian beliefs. If you don't like it, don't live here!

How about you pay for them if you want them so bad! I am absolutely sick and tired of having money "taken" from me by the federal government and used to support someone here illiegally! I know no "working" person that is for opening up the borders. If an illiegal is here in this country and has a child then the child is also illegal. That is how the law should be read. How is it fair to those of us that worked and struggled all of our lives to get what we have and then have it taken in the form of welfare.... I'm sorry, they call it assistance now, and given to an illegal! Don't think it happens? Really? Look at the schools and the hostpitals in California. That state is bankrupt now because of illegals.
