The Tonganoxie Split: Myth lacks scientific backing but remains intriguing mystery

I have lived most all of my life in or around the Tonganoxie area, contrary to the report in this paper and on channel 9, The afore mentioned tornado did not "touch down" in Tonganoxie. The reason I know this is that I lived through it. The winds and updrafts associated with the "tornadoes" that went "over Tonganoxie are what caused the damage. To my knowledge and any of the long timers here as well, the only touchdown in Tonganoxie would be from the football team. I was mere seconds ahead of the storm mentioned here, as we encountered the "dead calm" on top of Hubbel Hill. One could see the path of the twister and clearly it did not "touch down" in Tonganoxie proper. Sooo, the myth lives on in my book!

State trying to make sperm donor pay child support

This is where the "gay" community should stand up and be accountable. Clearly there was an agreement that the donor would have no responsibility here. The so called "partner" is the one that performed the act that resulted in the pregnancy.
this only makes an argument against gay marriage. This enabling society that we have become is rearing it's ugly head here! Stand up and be an adult, you made decision to do this knowing the outcome, now you want someone else to pay you for it!? Come on!!

State trying to make sperm donor pay child support

If the gay couple was so in favor of gay rights, then it would seem to me that she should be going after the lesbian partner that performed the insemination! You can't have it both ways. The man did not perform the act, the lesbian partner did. This is a desperate attempt at a money grab after her "partner" left her high and dry! Bad form Peter Pan!

KU School of Education dean apologizes for joking about animal cruelty complaint involving fraternity

Humor is one way that some deal with a reprehensible action. It is how some move forward. However someone in this instance at that level of responsibility should use more judgment when commenting on issues such as this. Do as I say, not as I do? I have to say, REALLY!
What is missing here is the fact that these MORONS think it's cool to do this sort of thing in the first place. I used to be a hunter for many years. One of my biggest fears was that I would wound an animal and not be able to find it, and it would suffer and die. Farmers treat livestock much better than this, yes they end up on the butcher block, but it is as humane as can possibly be. No I am not a vegetarian, what I am is someone that shows respect for other living things. Random cruelty such as this is where people like Jeffery Dahmer, BTK and others got their start. What is to keep this group of idiots from deciding that one of their rival frats or someone off of the street is their next play project when they go on the next drinking binge!?
Boys, and I do mean BOYS! You need a good old fashioned trip to the wood shed!

South Lawrence Trafficway legal fight ends with passing of deadline

I would think the amount of money spent on the legal battles could have been spent more wisely on other avenues of conservation. How many other acres could have been bought and made into wetlands, or trees planted, etc, etc. Three years is a long time to build a road, but because of the "low impact" methods that the State is forced to use, it takes longer. Many, many extra bridges with spread footings instead of piers.

South Lawrence Trafficway legal fight ends with passing of deadline

it fits with the length of the court case. When you have to put in the multitude of bridges that are required because of the tree rattling going on.

Let's see... Oh that's right, we already paid to replace twice the man made wetlands! Oh, and it's not so wet right now.

Two Lawrence police officers suspended for role in fixing traffic tickets in exchange for KU basketball tickets

... so then they should not be charged with the crime that it is because they are police officers?
I see officers breaking laws just about every day I am in Lawrence, speeding, turns without signals, pecking on computers while driving(inattentive driving).
I also wonder who fixed the ticket Mangino's wife got for crossing the center line on Mass to get a parking spot a few years back? That one kinda just vanished! Face it people, it's not what you are, it's who you are. If you don't think this goes on every day, you are living on a different planet. Officers letting someone skate on a DUI stop because he is active military, etc...etc...
