Longtime media executive Ralph Gage retiring from The World Company

Congratulations, Ralph! You have kept the ink on the paper for 43 years? That's amazing! I enjoyed working with you 2003-2006.

Local organizations work to keep older residents in the home

We are truly fortunate to have these resources in our community. The coordination between agencies that serve those who are aging is very much a part of who we are in Douglas County. Thank you to each of the agencies and businesses who are committed to this community to serve our older adults.

Caregivers are also at risk

Another valuable resource that caregivers may want to explore is the Caregivers Support Group that is held at Douglas County Senior Services, at 745 Vermont, Lawrence. It is scheduled for the first and third Mondays of each month from 2:15 - 3:45 pm. There is a lending library available that features many good books that have proven to be helpful to seasoned caregivers. If you need one on one support, that is also available. Please visit our website for more information, and feel free to call. (785) 842 0543.

Group seeking volunteers to deliver meals to seniors

Douglas County Senior Services Senior Meals Program is a not for profit and would be very happy to have employees and students from KU on our volunteer team! Thank you for considering this as a possibility! Sometimes we, as volunteers delivery drivers are the only person that the senior sees all day, possibly all week long. Take some time and think about it. We appreciate it!
