Notebook: Elijah Johnson believes shooting will improve; KU will wear alternate unis Monday
Self is the problem he has them over obsessed with passing to Withey. I've been saying for the past 4 years the guards need to develop the mid-range shot 7-12 instead of those stupid lobs. EJ, Travis and Thorpe are the fastest group of guards in the country.
They just don't punch on the gas when there is space to dribble drive inside. Its a 3,5 or 7 step drive then pull-up jumper. Its all about shooting in space uncontested. Its a dang shame 5 coaches that played guard and doesn't have a clue.
If they do that its an National Championship PERIOD. Self always has several good pieces that makes it appear that he can coach but he and that bench of coaches are guard destroyers. Watch Kobe, Ray Allen, Kirk Heinrich, Chris Paul its all about shooting in space then that will free up Withey because somebody will have to leave Withey to help out.

Opinion: It's time to embrace this team's ugly way of winning
the problem is that you have 5 coaches that played guard and neither has a clue about the mid-range game. EJ is a very fast guard the problem is that he is tentative or uncertain on how to have fun playing basketball. He thinks he's a 3 point specialist.
If he would just bend his knees and not his back and punch on the gas with a 3 or 5 or 7 step drive stop and pop jumpers that gives him the 7-12 ft uncontested mid-range shot and this includes all the guards. Thorpe does it ever so often but not near enough. Mac has it down and if REL would do it often he would be unstopable. There is no rule that says one has to force a drive that is not there then end up looking stupid by throwing a desperation pass away into the stands. This is the only way that frees up Withey. Self needs to get off his high horse and take into account that there is coaching coming from the opposite bench and quit blaming the players for everything. He has the pieces to win the Ncees

Opinion: Obama still a tax-and-spend liberal
NAFTA/GATT cut jobs and tax revenue and the congress knows it. But its too late folks Wall Street has contracts with European Nations it would be a good thing for us but bad for bankers to reneg on a contracts especially with China because they would retaliate and pool together against our debt. Its not much we can do because federal reserve notes are not ours it is lended to us on credit. So the repugs in congress sees the easy way out by allowing Wall Street to be the federal government and not us as people. Welcome to the New World Order and this was long before Obama. So you need to rock your own chalk and get a clue because 38% of whites are on welfare and that was during G.W. Bush with a Repug house.

Ready to roll: Elijah Johnson, KU ‘re-energized’ after break
Elijah needs to know the mid-range game a 3 or 5 or 7 step stop and pop and quit driving too deep and going no where to throw desperation passes that end up out of bounds. Quiet as its kept Elijah is faster than TT he has just never punched on the gas. REL is fast to and he doesn't punch on the gas.
It pisses me off that there are 4 coaches on the staff that played guard and don't teach it thats why I like Caliperi. Its not an old school game its a not a taught game. Check out Kobe, Ray Allen and Chris Paul and Nash. If Elijah and REL develops that game KU wins the NC's period no contest and they would have beaten Kentucky

KU School of Education dean apologizes for joking about animal cruelty complaint involving fraternity
Yes it was stupid and shouldn't have been said or done. But most of these animals lovers don't have qualms or convictions about aborting babies and a whole bunch of folks know plenty of them but its never an issue or becomes a story. Its time to check both sides.

Happy holidays: Ben McLemore cherishes visit with brother
I wish the NBA scouts would stay out of Kansas. They keep snatching our guys way too soon not allowing to further develop. Yes we have the numbers in the league but none are stars except Paul Pierce and he's on his last leg.

Self, Jayhawks: There's nothing middling about mid-major Belmont
If Eiijah Johnson would punch on the gas and stop and pop with mid-range jumpers (7-14) nobody in the Nation beats them period. He is not a 3-point shooter as he wishes

Spirited victory helps Self preach high-energy approach to Jayhawks
grizdad he doesn't get it i agree with you. Its an awful shame that 5 guard coaches on the bench that doesn't teach the dribble drive to open spots on the floor for midrange jumpers. Guards don't have to drive all the way to the hoop its all about shooting in space for uncontested jumpers. Nowadays its called old school which is stupid. I call it coaches ain't got a clue. They harp on it but don't teach it.
