McLemore declares for NBA Draft

I sure wish he'd stay for at least another year to gain some more experience and knowledge from one of the best coaches around. But I do understand and respect Ben's reason for leaving. And I wholeheartedly agree with 4Runner "No worries young Ben,,, Once a Jayhawk,,, Always a Jayhawk. Rock Chalk - - Jayhawk Nation will be cheering you on where ever you play."

Driver in head-on crash had prior DUIs

I lost someone very close to me in July under similar circumstances. The only thing that might be different is the previous DUI history and, luckily, there were no fatalities. These peoples' guardian angels were watching out for them that day. Hopefully, this driver can be stopped before he causes someone to mourn their loved one like I am doing.

Statehouse Live: Measure defunding remedial courses at universities advances in House

Why would the legislature decide to do away with a class that is so needed by college students. I am one of those students that needed to take the remedial algebra course when I returned to school. Without that course, I know I'd have never made it through the remainder of my math requirements. I successfully survived those courses and got my Bachelors degree. Now I'm only two semesers away from my Masters. Kasha, I don't believe I could have gotten either from a community or technical college.

Brownback voices disapproval of Obama rule on contraceptives

Dear Heavens: there are still people around with this archaic view! And, unfortunately, probably vote without bothering themselves with facts!

Brownback voices disapproval of Obama rule on contraceptives

Hey folks, as voters, we can make sure Brownback goes to work somewhere else during the next election. I'd prefer somewhere with no decision making requirements that have any impact on any living creature!!

Crossing guard returns waves in subdued way

I would like to meet the moron who called in the complaint! What kind of narrow-minded, bitter, small individual would get upset about a friendly gesture like a wave. My suggestion to him/her "get a life or get a new one!"

Hanging by a thread

Okay, I agree with most of your comments but two of them just demonstrate why I don't base my decision to go to the movies on comments from movie critics/reviewers. Did Jon Niccum attend a private screening of Brokeback Mountain somewhere because it hasn't been released in Lawrence yet? And panning a movie because most of it's humor was based on ethnic or gay stereotypes is just hypocritical.

Rape case dismissed at victim's request

It's too bad this sick, twisted deviate has gotten away with this. I know the defendant. This wasn't the first time he'd been accused of doing this to another man and it wasn't the last. I know for a fact he has actually done this at least twice because I know two of his victims. They won't come forward because they're too embarrassed. This guy waits until his victim is too inebriated to realize what's happening and then takes advantage of them. It's too bad our legal system doesn't better protect victims of same-gender, sexual assaults.
