Editorial: Little choice
Stop with the death panel talk. There have always been so called 'death panels' at hospitals. They are called ethics committees, and they have always made decisions about who gets a transplant etc.

Opinion: Nature loves a female breadwinner
The black widow spider, the penguin, the kangaroo, the bears, and I protest this guy's nonsense. I am sure others would join this outrage. What science or nature is he looking at that the males solely provide for families always, or require a majority of assistance from males post conception? There are tons of examples in the animal kingdom where the females provide the so called bread and males serve an auxiliary role in 'child' rearing.

Newton company to benefit from state budget proviso after 'Read to Succeed' initiative not approved
One long term outcome study, and only one subtest shows better outcomes. The Woodcock Johnson's Broad Reading, like state assessments, measures more than word attack skills. Phonetic decoding isn't always related to comprehension. So the state is sinking money into one system with little evidence it improves 3rd grade reading scores.

Letter: Less dark?
I am curious to know what kind of spiritual leader that is that can identify dark spiritual areas. Sound spooky shaky shaky, coconuts to me. In fact, I was going to say something like voodoo, but even voodoo isn't that silly.

Mock funeral crowd mourns ‘death’ of Kansas
Yes there is a reason they can't sell it. They can't profit off state funded items.

Don't buy the block grant story either. Block grant funds are spent on salaries not consumers or clients.
