Letter: Serious issue
I had interviews during the "we must teach creationism next to Darwinism" ten years ago that went much like that, just not as direct. When everyone on an interview committee takes time to ask you about the debate in private interview sessions, it is difficult to believe that isn't a deciding factor in a non-hire situation. Don't be naive to think the rest of the country doesn't find Kansas ridiculous.

Kansas science and math teachers easily recruited away

Budget provision would block state funding for Common Core standards
Meanwhile in a standards free world, the disparity between quality education in one town and the next grows limiting future opportunities in local districts that have fewer people qualified to develop educational goals. Totally not in the spirit of free public education.

Budget provision would block state funding for Common Core standards
Yes, so they can justify cutting education funding. They don't even care when their agendas are transparent anymore.

Higher education funding back at the forefront; Republican leaders still negotiating budget and taxes
I am confused. Are we going to pay more income tax or less. Who isn't paying income tax? Is it being eliminated or increased? How can we pay income tax if we are not paying income tax anymore? Wouldn't we not even need to file in 2014 for state income tax if it is Eliminated?
