Gardening through the moon's phases
I don't believe much in zodiac signs influencing people's lives, but I can see how the waxing and waning of the moon would affect plants since they contain water. I've always wondered where you purchase the Farmer's almanac? Not that I've really looked before.

Exhibit provides lunar sensations
How lame that I'm only reading about this today, and I work until after the exhibit closes. I want to touch a moon rock!

U.S. hostage fails in escape bid from Somali pirates
Are the pirates feeding him, at least? Or giving him water? This all seems very strange -- I've only heard little bits of this story, so I'm a little confused.

Stimulus money invested in volcanoes
Hmmm... not sure how I feel about this. I know it's important, but not sure there weren't more important things to spend the money on. And what did the rest of the money go to?

The little church that could: Longtime East Lawrence church undergoes aesthetic resurrection
Big Prune -- apparently I missunderstood. It looks like Tom purchased it, then did some research to learn more about it, then put it up for rent. I know older buildings are a fascination of his. We share the opinion that they have more character than most quickly built new homes.

Tri-State reviews long-term coal plans
Why is this the first we're hearing about their other options besides KS based coal plants? I think it's great that they're investing in incentives for customers to use less energy. I'd be interested in hearing how those work. I wish Westar or BlackHills would do something like that.

Budding business: Lawrence teacher opens secondhand clothing shop
It doesn't sound like she wants clothing donations because she gets enough from her relatives' store? So, I guess I'll just keep pedalling my used stuff to Lasting Impressions. Good to know it's there, though. Maybe I'll check it out.

The little church that could: Longtime East Lawrence church undergoes aesthetic resurrection
I bought my house from Tom Harper 7 years ago. I was a first-time buyer and he was so helpful, knowledgeable and dedicated. The friends I recommended him to were very happy with him as well. I'm glad to see he was succesful in renovating and renting this property out. I saw the slideshow online, and it looks really nice inside! I was just sorry to miss the open house and catering!
