Bid for recreation center comes in about $10 million lower than expected; questions grow over other cost estimates
OK. Maybe I am confused here (my wife would say that happens often). Is the City not committed to spending all of the $25 Million ?? So if the building comes in cheaper, the rest just goes to the "infrastructure", doesn't it ???

Organized labor calls current Legislature one of the worst
Personally, I didn't need Organized Labor to tell this is the worst Legislature. I figure that out on my own through this AND other ____ they have done.
But I am pro union, and this Legislature is a prime example as to why (some) of them are needed.

Kansas Action for Children files lawsuit against Attorney General Derek Schmidt over settlement records
Short answer - only when he has to (i.e. other people are watching).

Two KU students arrested in connection with break-in at Memorial Stadium
"..... and consumption of alcohol by a minor" What !!!????? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you !!!
Andini probably had the best idea. Or, an off-take of that - as their punishment they have to sit in that seat in the stadium during the games. The entire game and no alcohol !!!

Kansas Action for Children files lawsuit against Attorney General Derek Schmidt over settlement records
Good for KAC. If there was a way to check you would find lots of other funds that have been directed to shore up this budget, not just this one.
And just think, the AG's office is the group who teaches on KORA/KOMA. Kind of makes you go Hhhmmmmmmmm.

Wicked Broadband project seeks $500,000 city grant; downtown hotel project seeks adjustment to incentives package; historical society seeks $20k for new exhibit
And why is it, that if the City wants to show it's "committed", it has to come with a $500,000 check -and ONLY to this guy ??? I think committed might be the correct word if the City goes for this, but with a slightly different meaning.

Republicans push through proposal blocking the desires of advocates for the developmentally disabled
deec- you don't understand. This Administration is G-O-D, and they will do what they want, when they want, and how they want - as long as it only causes damage the weak, poor, and not-friends of the Gov. The Justice Department ??? Hah !! that is just part of the Fed Government that this state doesn't care about (they don't pass out funds and subsidies).

Republican freshman lawmakers in Kansas House undergo re-election briefing
"Vickrey added, "The two things that you can do for your election coming up to avoid a tough opponent is raise money and communicate with your constituents."
Agreed - the money will come from ALEC and Koch if you blindly follow them. And BE SURE to communicate honestly. Yes,. I said I would not raise taxes, but BB and the Chamber said I had to go along with them or they would treat me like the other Republicans in the past primary election.

City to use eminent domain to take over dilapidated East Lawrence property; Just Food seeks $25,000 in CDBG funding to expand dairy, meat offerings
I don't mind the eminent domain in this case. The family has totaled ignored any and all attempts to get anything done with that place. Destruction by neglect can't be allowed and when you throw in the "Historic" part of it, in this town that ends all the rational conversation. Since the family is ignoring all attempts to either fix or sell the place, I am happy to see the City move forward. (I still wish that whole vacant area would be turned into a parking lot, but I know that isn't happening. So do something productive with it.)

Revenue secretary says tax cuts are working
No, you are not the only one. The problem is those of us that do are outnumbered by the ones who blindly follow BB/Koch/ALEC. Unless people who do see this actually show up to vote next time, we will be stuck with this type of 'stuff' for a long time.
