Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach defends stance on illegal immigration at Lied Center

The "hate" referred to on the signs, and attributed to Kobach, is indiscriminate hate against a class of people. Kobach "hates" illegal immigrants for potentially committing voter fraud; although no proof that this is a problem which needs tax payer money to be spent on it exists.

People who "hate" Kobach do so on an individual level based on actions he has taken and words he has spoken. There is a clear and rational reason for not liking Kobach.

I don't feel the need to discuss all the measures that have been taken by me or any previous residents. Your advice, while well meaning, has little meaning... since you do not understand the context of the situation. Thanks for your e-input...

Thankfully this issue is being resolved in a court and not on a message board.

Lawrence woman arrested on charge of aggravated assault

I am the victim in question. A few weeks ago I would have agreed with what Smitty is saying. I still do in theory. After hours of conversation with this woman (after we first moved in late July) in which my wife and I tried to empathize with her even offering to help her amicably settle her ongoing disputes... we realized she shows many traits consistent with mentally illness.

She is beyond reasoning with and thrives on dispute and confrontation. We now understand why the people in the neighborhood were warning us about her. She stalks the neighborhood with sticks looking for stray cats and dogs, arguing with neighbors, photographing and videotaping peoples houses, pets and children (coming up into their yards to do so.)

Smitty: We just got home from the hospital with a newborn child on Sept. 21. This woman has continued to escalate the situation with us and other neighbors. What if my wife had been walking on that sidewalk with our newborn and the brakes failed on her old car and something happened to our child.

Yes, the city and various agencies will likely become involved and we hope she gets the help she needs. There is a good chance that because of her probable and alleged mental illness could be found not competent to stand trial or understand the charges. She may be released back to her home where we fear she will continue to escalate the problem (starting to call my work and school as she has done to other neighbors... continuing to argue with us on the street).

We would like to see this resolved in a way where she is treated with respect and kindness but at the same time we worry that this will only make her act out more....
